I’m currently the proud cat mom of two sweet boys, Freddie and Joey. I used to have another cat, Lola, who lived with my mom in Bolivia until she passed away at 13. She was family, and I still miss her every day... Hi there! My name is Carla and I’ve loved cats for as long as I can remember. I grew up surrounded by them, my grandma always had a mix of indoor and neighborhood cats, and she passed on to me her deep love and respect for animals. I honestly can’t imagine life without a cat in it!
I’m currently the proud cat mom of two sweet boys, Freddie and Joey. I used to have another cat, Lola, who lived with my mom in Bolivia until she passed away at 13. She was family, and I still miss her every day.
I recently lost my job due to a reduction in force (RIF) after my federal agency shut down—so I’m leaning into what brings me joy (and helps pay the bills for now): caring for cats! This little side gig is helping me stay afloat while I look for something more stable.
I’m fully vaccinated and happy to follow any safety protocols you prefer. I’m based in Van Ness, DC, and have a car, so I’m happy to travel beyond public transit routes to care for your fur babies. My schedule is pretty flexible—I'm generally available any time of the day for the time being.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I own two cats and I have plenty of experience taking care of them, playing with them and giving them meds when and if necessary.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
Playing with the cats. Cats are wonderful companions and each have their own quirky personalities.
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
I once took care of a cat named Gaudí, he was such a sweet boy, loved to be held and cuddled. I'm aware not all kitties like that, but he was a favorite for sure. He liked being held because he grew up in a household with children.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
Yes! Freddie Purrcury and Joey Cattiani, but they usually just go by Freddie and Joey.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Feel out the person. Not everyone is a good match. If the person makes you feel comfortable and your kittie has a good reaction to the sitter, that's a good sign. That, and reviews from past clients are always a plus of course.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I give them their space and make sure they get used to my voice. Getting close to a cat always has to be on their terms.

Carla was an amazing pet sitter. My cat needed eyedrops twice a day in the morning and at night. She was able to administer the drops, make sure he was fed, litter box was kept clean, and she always provided ample videos and pictures. She even asked if it was ok to lift the blinds so he could get some sunlight. I will certainly hire her again

Carla was fantastic, I would give 10 stars if I could! This was my first time leaving my cat for an extended period of time and using Meowtel, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. My cat is a little shy and we weren’t sure how she was going to react to a new person, but she loved Carla and warmed up to her right away! Carla sent me a daily update with multiple pictures and videos, and always responded quickly if I asked a question. It is very clear she knows what she is doing and loves cats so I felt at complete ease knowing my cat was in her care :) Thank you Carla!!

Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Washington cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

Carla is an awesome cat sitter. She followed my rather lengthy feeding instructions (my cat Charlie is picky), kept the electric water fountain topped up, scooped his litter boxes (he has two - he's persnickety), gave him pets, and sent me photos and videos. She also reported on his litter box doings. Since Charlie has kidney issues, it's important that he doesn't go more than one day without peeing. This is way to much detail for the squeamish (!), but it demonstrates that Carla is a top notch cat sitter. I highly recommend her.

We set up a meeting before my reservation, so my cats and I could meet Carla and make sure she was a good fit! Carla was very sweet and offered to collect my mail while I was away. Carla was really lovely – she was very flexible with me as I was sort of bumbling through my travel plans, and she sent me great adorable pictures of my cat so I knew he was OK while I was gone and just generally kept me in the know about things so I didn’t have to worry and could just enjoy my trip.
