Hi there! My name is Netiya and I’m a full time pet care provider, and have been now for the better part of a decade. I have lived with cats literally my entire life. Growing up we had a minimum of two cats at any given time, and while I now love dogs and cats equally, as a child I considered myself a “cat person” since we didn’t adopt a dog until I was a pre-teen. Generally speaking, I consider taking care of living beings my purpose in life, which is why I center my life around helping people and animals. My love for all animals makes the work I do both fun and fulfilling. No matter what I do, I pride myself on always delivering the highest standard of care.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

While I have casually been cat sitting all my life - beginning with watching friends’ and neighbors’ cats as a child - in 2015 I decided to pursue a full time career in pet care and have been cat sitting professionally now for 10 years. I absolutely adore the animals I work with and I feel so lucky and grateful every day. I wouldn’t change my career for the world!

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

My typical process for working with a new cat parent is to set up a meet and greet beforehand so I can meet the cat and talk more with the parent about the cat’s general temperament, preferences, and routine. My goal when cat sitting is to best emulate the cat’s normal day-to-day experience to make sure the kitty is as comfortable as possible in my care.

Are you usually available during holidays?

I am almost always available for cat sitting over the holidays (the only exception being the 4th of July, when I typically leave town due to my dislike of fireworks). I always stay in town for the winter holidays and am happy to cat sit over Christmas and Hannukah.

Everything was wonderful! Netiya provided great updates and photos! My cat has never been so photogenic. I can tell Meeks was very well cared for. I appreciate the check-ins and being able to depend on her getting meds and so much attention. Highly recommend Netiya!!!

Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.

All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Chicago cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
