While I'm new to Meowtel, I'm not new to cat sitting! I have visited friends' cats while they've been out of town several times over the years. My time caring for my own ailing cat involved administering various medicines (liquids/pills/ointments) and subcutaneous fluids, so I'm comfortable taking care of kitties with such needs... Hi! I'm a lifelong cat-obsessive who is offering myself as a sitter for families in neighborhoods near me (Edgewater, Andersonville, Rogers Park, Uptown, Ravenswood, etc.). I'm missing cat time something awful after I had to say goodbye to my beloved cat Lux of 19 years earlier this year.
While I'm new to Meowtel, I'm not new to cat sitting! I have visited friends' cats while they've been out of town several times over the years. My time caring for my own ailing cat involved administering various medicines (liquids/pills/ointments) and subcutaneous fluids, so I'm comfortable taking care of kitties with such needs.
My adoration for cats has made me especially good at making quick friends with them. I understand some are shy and need space, while others want lots of pets and playtime, and I am very familiar with watching their body language and respecting their boundaries. I take what clients have to say about what their cat needs very seriously.
I don't see this as a job so much as an opportunity to do one of my favorite things in life, spend time with cats. 😻 So, if you hire me, you'll be sure your pet is met with my total attention. I've been cat sitting for 3 years primarily for friends and family who have been gone for several days at a time.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I work with you to arrange a quick meet-and-greet where I can meet you and your cat(s) and hear from you firsthand exactly how you'd like me to handle each visit, e.g., feeding, watering, litter box, play, treats, medicines, etc. I will ask many questions and take thorough notes.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes, this year I'm around through all the holidays, as I am most years. I usually travel during non-holiday periods.

Emily clearly cares deeply about cats and went above and beyond to take care of mine. I have three cats, each with different levels of shyness, and she did a wonderful job with all of them. I had to make some last-minute changes to my reservation due to a medical issue with one of my cats, which Emily took very seriously and handled the situation with care. She was communicative during her visits, which gave me real peace of mind. I’m very grateful to have had someone so attentive and compassionate looking after my cats when I couldn’t be there.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Chicago cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
