What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I’ve been cat sitting on and off since 2020, mainly for friends and family. I love cat sitting because I feel my spirit animal is a cat—I truly believe we have a mutual understanding of respecting each other’s space and independence. That said, I’m also very observant and can read their body language to know when they want to play, cuddle, or engage with me. Whether they’re shy or outgoing, I adapt to their needs, ensuring they feel safe and comfortable during my visits.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love cat sitting because I’ve always wanted a cat, but my family members are allergic, so we never had one growing up. I truly enjoy building a relationship with every cat I meet, and I find it so cute how they all have their unique personalities—some are sassy, some are shy, and others are more needy. It’s so exciting to me when I earn a cat’s trust; it really makes my day. Some cats trust me right away, too! Even when I’m walking around my neighborhood, cats will come up to me for pets, show me their belly, and even follow me! It just brings me so much joy 🥹
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I take both the cat’s safety and the home’s security very seriously. I always double-check that doors and windows are secure before leaving, and I’m mindful about not letting the cat slip outside—especially if they’re indoor-only. I follow the owner's instructions closely and stay attentive to the cat’s behavior. I believe cats are very perceptive, so if they seem distressed or something feels off, I read their cues and respond calmly. I also stay alert to anything unusual in the home and treat the space with the same care and respect I would my own.

We recommend Cauria highly and will use her again (if she is available). We have 2 cats and have used other sitters before. We had a negative experience with our last sitter, had a 10 day trip upcoming and were quite concerned about being able to find a reliable sitter in a couple of weeks. Our concerns were eased as soon as we completed the meet and greet. Cauria was friendly, pleasant and attentive to our needs. During the days we were out, she was communicative, sent updates + pictures daily and was responsive to questions. Upon our return, we found no issues and Cauria even did a few extras! All in all, our experience with Cauria left us feeling good that our cats were well looked after in our absence. Strongly recommend.

Cauria has watched my 2 cats twice and both times she was awesome! She was very patient and understanding with my cats who have very different personalities and gave me regular updates on how they were doing. She also went over and above to help keep my apartment tidy while I was gone and even received a litter delivery for me after letting me know the litterbox was low. I travel for work so it gives me great peace of mind knowing that Cauria is checking in on my babies, I will definitely continue to book her as a sitter for my cats when traveling.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th
- September 4-10: Labor Day
- October 9-15: Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day
- November 8-14: Veterans Day
- November 23-29: Thanksgiving
- December 22-28: Christmas
- December 29-31: New Year's 2027

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Chicago cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $28.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cauria is a very responsible, and more importantly a caring and gentle person. I first hired Cauria to take care of an older cat I adopted. My cat was extremely shy with new people, but Cauria was very patient and never forceful. She fed, watered, and kept my place tidy. She was very patient until my cat decided to approach and meet her. She kept my place clean, and followed everything I instructed her to do (i.e. water the plants) She took care of my cat every time I went out of town. I highly highly recommend Cauria.
