Cat Sitting in Chicago, IL

Hi there! I’m Harvey, a lifelong cat lover and experienced cat dad who understands that every cat has their own unique personality, routines, and needs.

I grew up with two wonderful cats, Peanut and Mittens. Peanut was a stereotypical mischievous orange cat, while Mittens was a sweet but shy tortie who required daily insulin injections. Through caring for her, I gained hands-on experience administering injectable medications and providing compassionate care to senior and medically complex cats.

Today, I have a playful and intelligent 3 year old black cat named Viktor. After rescuing him and helping him through several health challenges, I’ve become comfortable administering oral medications, topical treatments, ear drops, supplements, and other routine care. If your cat requires medication or special attention, you can trust that they’ll be in capable and caring hands!

Beyond meeting basic needs, I believe quality time matters. As a cat owner myself, I know how much we worry about our pets when we’re away. Whether your cat is social and attention seeking, playful and energetic, or shy and reserved, I’ll tailor my care to their personality. I’ll happily provide playtime, cuddles, enrichment, and companionship for cats who crave interaction, while respecting the space and comfort of cats who prefer to be left alone.

My goal is to make your time away as stress-free as possible for both you and your cat. I’ll treat your cat with the same patience, attention, and care that I give my own!

I look forward to meeting you and your kitty!

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

While I am new to catsitting apps, I have been taking care of cats (whether my own or others) most of my life! For years after I moved out of my parent's house, I often catsit for them while they were out of town. This required caring for two senior cats, one of which had diabetes and required insulin shots. On top of my family's cats, I also have frequently catsit for many friends and other family members, from which I have come across a wide variety of cat personalities, needs, medical care, and attachment styles. I understand how different every cat is, and how it's important to provide personalized care for each one to make sure they are happy and comfortable!

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I am the proud cat dad of a funny, playful, adventurous, and intelligent black cat named Viktor! My sweet boy is only 3 years old, but I just rescued him this past January and he already brings me so much joy. Viktor loves exploring the outdoors and going on short walks on a leash, and taking long naps in the sunshine. Outside of his little adventures, Viktor loves to play with any form of string or rope, wrestle my arm, and smother me with affection :)

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I have cared for many anxious and timid cats throughout my life, one of which being one of my own childhood cats. For more shy cats, I always find it important to let the cat come to me on their own terms to ensure their comfort. I always will check with cat parents beforehand to see what they prefer or what they think works best with their cat, but if the cat seems especially anxious or scared I will try and offer it treats from a distance while respecting their space. If you personally have a cat that you are concerned about being timid or anxious, please let me know whether you'd prefer me to try and coax them out of hiding (with treats, catnip, etc) to give it any affection or if you'd prefer me to leave them completely alone!

Harvey was amazing! He made sure my cat received lots of love while I was away. I had a last minute trip and he responded right away. He was very accommodating, sent lots of photos, and even brought a package inside for me while i was gone. Highly recommend and will be booking again if I need another cat sitter.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Chicago cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
