I have been around cats for a lot of my adult life and I understand fully that every cat has their own unique personality and they basically own you (and that is what we love about them!). I adore their individuality and different temperaments. I will cater to the specific emotional needs of your cat (or cats), using my intuition and calm demeanor. As an example, I recognize that some cats are skittish when they are in the presence of someone new and unfamiliar. I will carefully and lovingly meet them with that in mind. In regards to this aspect of a cat's personality, I believe in consent. I let them get to know me on their terms. I have found that tending to their basic needs (like food and cleaning their litter box), helps with their skittishness. I begin to slowly build trust, and they realize that I care for them, which helps them to feel safe in my presence.
A short story about a cat I fostered. I found this stray cat which I named Ruby, during one of those blustery and snowy Boston winters. At the time, it was living in a freezing hallway ...my heart went out to her, and I had to take her home, not knowing how long I would keep her. I gave her much love and pets, but after 10 months, I could tell she felt really cooped up in my small studio apt and was not happy. I put up an ad, and found the perfect forever home for her. A woman who was looking for another tortoiseshell kitty, and who had a really large apt. with lots of windows. As bittersweet as it was to let her go, I knew she was going to a wonderful place and would be loved and cared for.
As an aside, I am a professional photographer by trade and I also do temp work to fill in the gaps. Not having a regular 9-5 job, gives me flexibility in regards to visiting and taking care of kitties. I would be available late mornings, afternoons and evenings within the Cambridge/Davis and Ball Square area.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love building trust & forming a bond between me & kitty clients. It brings me joy to take care of their basic needs while also hanging out with them in the way that they desire. Whether that is through playtime, or just keeping them company while their guardian(s) are away. I find that cats are like teachers. They nurture my intuition & help me to stay mindful. I love the communication I have with the cat parent while they are away. Sending pictures & daily reports puts the parent at ease, knowing their fur baby is safe & cared for. The appreciation I receive back, brings joy to my ❤️.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
The first thing I find that is important, is to look at the potential cat sitter's profile & testimonials. Does it gel with your needs for a cat sitter? What is communication like when you reach out to the cat sitter? Are they responsive to your inquiries? Is the communication straight forward & clear? At the Meet & Greet, how are they interacting with your cat(s)? Is there a true sense of joy to be around your fur baby(babies)? Are they asking a lot of questions, taking notes? Showing warmth, enthusiasm, along with communication and dependability are key attributes for a great cat sitter.

Tanya took care of our two cats for 11 days while we were out of town. She sent detailed updates and professional quality photos of our cats everyday! One of our cats is very shy but Tanya was able to get him out of his shell. Tanya also brought toys to play with them and they really enjoyed it. We returned with happy and well taken care of kitties. Highly recommended!

Not only does Tanya entertain our cats, she somehow manages to simultaneously document her interactions with gallery quality photos (she seems to have at least three arms). She gave enthusiastic daily reports that tracked our cats' moods and activities, and that included her exceptional photos. Tanya was also extremely conscientious, making sure to take notes in her first visit on where every items was located, how a door to our deck operated, etc. She was very helpful in watering plants in addition to caring for our cats. We couldn't recommend Tanya more highly.

This is my second experience with Tanya; my boyfriend previously worked with her last summer. She was so amazing that when I was in a pickle last week, I immediately booked her. My cats absolutely love Tanya. They greet her at the door, they sit in her lap, they are clearly cheered up by her presence. Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.
If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.
Cambridge cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $30.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!

Tanya was just fabulous! She took perfectly care of everything, was so thoughtful and thorough in all the details! The communication was excellent - We loved the wonderful pictures and the funny and extensive reports she sent to us, making us feel so close to our two cats in the two weeks of our vacation as if we never left.
