My priority is always making cats feel safe, comfortable, and understood while their people are away. I take time to learn each cat’s unique routine, go at their pace when building trust, and provide plenty of gentle companionship, play, and affection... I'm a lifelong cat lover with years of experience caring for kitties of all ages, temperaments, and health needs. In addition to cat sitting, I'm the director of operations and development for Caring for Cats, a cat rescue and shelter in North Saint Paul.
My priority is always making cats feel safe, comfortable, and understood while their people are away. I take time to learn each cat’s unique routine, go at their pace when building trust, and provide plenty of gentle companionship, play, and affection.
In addition to general care, I have years of hands-on experience with senior cats and supporting cats with medical needs. I’m comfortable with diabetes management (including insulin injections), administering subcutaneous fluids, supporting cats with kidney disease, managing allergies, and following detailed veterinary instructions. I know how important consistency is when caring for cats with special needs, and I take that responsibility seriously.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
After booking, we'll schedule a free meet and greet before your booking begins. This is a short meeting in your home where you can introduce me to your cat(s), show me their routine, what they like to play with, and their best hiding spots. This is also the meeting where I'll get keys and access information. Please be sure your pet profile and vet release form are both updated. When I visit with cats I greet them when I come in, and talk to them while we get food, wash out cat dishes, refresh water bowls and scoop litter. I let them set the pace for play and scritches, and I take as many pictures as I can. You'll get the pics and an update so you know what your kitties are up to while you're away.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
I follow all owner instructions carefully, including feeding schedules, medications, and any special care routines. I make sure doors, windows, and other potential hazards are secure, and I monitor the environment to prevent accidents or escapes. My experience caring for cats with medical needs has reinforced the importance of vigilance, consistency, and calm attention, ensuring every kitty stays safe, comfortable, and happy while their family is away.
Are you usually available during holidays?
Yes! I have a flexible schedule and am usually available during holidays. I understand this is when many pet parents travel, so I do my best to make sure cats get consistent, loving care while their families are away. If I'm ever marked unavailable due to service area or being booked up, please reach out with a message! Sometimes I can make exceptions.
What is your favorite cat toy?
I love playing with the wand toys and getting great action photos when I can
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I give timid or anxious cats the time and space they need to feel comfortable. I start slowly, sitting quietly, speaking softly, and letting them approach me on their own terms. I read body language carefully, respect boundaries, and adapt my approach to each cat’s needs, whether that’s gentle play, quiet companionship, or simply being present nearby. Over time, consistency and patience help build trust and make cats feel safe.

Shannalee did a great job! It's been a 5 year search and I finally found a Cat Sitter who is a keeper. Every day she sent me many photos and videos of my cats, so I got tenfold the relaxation out of my vacation than I have in the past. I could tell from the photos and videos that my cats were relaxed and not stressed. When I returned home, no one yelled at me for having to go without their favorite food, or without treats or dirty litter (yes, I have 2 extremely talkative cats who scold me for any oversight). What a treat! Instead, they were all lounging on my bed, not a care in the world. A lounging cat is a happy cat; and of course, happy cat, happy life!😉 She also kept the litter area vacuumed so the cats didn't track litter into my bedroom! I cannot recommend highly enough. She is 100% trustworthy, conscientious, thorough and responsive. It felt like mine were the only animals she was caring for and I know that wasn't the case.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Minneapolis cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
