Cat Sitting in Milwaukee, WI

- I have had cats all my life and I currently have four tuxedo babies!
- I volunteered at a no-kill shelter in my hometown of Albuquerque, NM for nearly a year walking dogs and socializing cats. I did this for 10 hours a week, including through the first year of the pandemic.
- I only left my shelter volunteer position because I was offered a job as a veterinary technician at that same shelter in their clinic! We saw privately owned pets through our accessible low-income clinic, as well as performed TNR services for private trappers (and keeping/adopting out the kitties that were friendly enough, with the trapper’s permission), and provided care for all the shelter pets. During my tenure at the shelter, the whole clinic was certified in CPR for cats and dogs, keeping up with annual certification renewals. We also helped on the vet-care side of fostering animals, including prescription management, health checks, and placing animals in foster homes that were a good fit.
- I also worked as a vet tech at an emergency clinic in my hometown for a year...

- I also worked as a vet tech at an emergency clinic in my hometown for a year.
- Because of my two-year experience as a vet tech, I am qualified to administer medications, including subcue fluids, shots, preventatives, inhaled meds, and oral meds.
- Because of my shelter and personal cat experience, I am certified in feline behavior, especially FAS (fear, anxiety, and stress), and I can read kitty body language very well.
- These experiences also taught me patience and calm under stress, so I am not likely to upset your furry friends if they are already stressed.
- I am a nurse, so my hours are flexible, but odd, due to my work schedule.
I work second shift, so the visits on the days that I work will typically be between 12-2pm
- I am fully vaccinated for COVID, plus I have a booster (three vaccines in total). I also get my annual flu shot and have thus been vaccinated for this flu season.
- I am willing to wear a mask, wash my hands, and/or hand-sanitize upon each visit if that is preferable.
- During my sitting visits I am more than willing to: take daily photos and send them with updates; scoop/change the litter and send photo proof; handle the food and water, depending on your preferences; of course play with the kitties with approved toys; take out any garbage that may accumulate; water any plants you may have (I have over 100 houseplants myself, so I’m very fond of plants and generally consider myself proficient at taking care of them! 😊); and finally, bringing in any mail that may come while you’re out!

Learn More About Holly

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been sitting with Meowtel since March of 2023. Before that, I sat for friends and family since 2014. I am also comfortable giving all medications!

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

The kitties, of course! I love getting to meet new cats and hang out with them :) they all have their own unique little purrsonalities 🥰

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have four babies- Nori (6), Hiro (5), Bumble Boo (3), and Socks (she adopted me from off the streets, so I have no idea how old she is!)

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I like doing a meet and greet to get to know the kitties and their habits (and their human's habits!). The first time I come over, I like to go slow so the kitties can get used to me. During subsequent visits, I like getting all the chores out of the way so I can spend the rest of the time playing and giving lovins :)

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

My family has what we call the "cat foot"- putting our foot in the door way before we enter the house so kitties can't run out! I also ensure I have accounted for all cats as soon as I get to the home and before I leave. In addition, I make sure I don't leave anything out that they can get in to.

Are you usually available during holidays?

Yup! My work schedule has me working rotating holidays, but I can definitely make visits work on those days :)

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

Go slow!! I let them approach me to begin with (unless they need meds and then I speed up the process) and I don't push them if they aren't interested in interacting. I let the kitties make the decisions since they know what they are comfortable with.

I'm so grateful for Holly! I wasn't away from home but was struggling at getting my cat to take a pill and I was losing my mind. I didn't know what else to do. I booked Holly and she came right over and saved the day! she showed me a different technique and since then I've been able to do it myself! 🙏❤️

Holly was wonderful! She was so friendly and professional, and made the entire process go so smoothly. She even made a great suggestion for making sure our sweet boy (who's prone to urinary crystals when stressed) was getting enough water by adding some to his wet food. She even got our very shy boy to come out of hiding and play a little bit! We appreciated the daily pics, and were able to enjoy our vacation more knowing he was in such caring, capable hands!

I have two cats (one with chronic kidney disease that I was very nervous to leave for any extended period of time), and Holly immediately alleviated any concerns I had. She made sure to ask any questions about necessary care needed, and it was clear how much she cares about doing whatever your pets need while out. While I was out, she sent updates and pictures on a regular basis. Anyone needing a cat sitter should try to book her.

Holly is an absolute treasure and a genuinely kind, cat-loving human. I knew from the meet & greet that I had chosen the right person. It was reassuring to have someone with her vet tech background checking on the boys. And I’m so grateful they got cuddles while I was gone - even my more reticent boy was loving on her. She sent pics every day. Yup. She’s my go-to gal from here on out.

Super simple and intuitive to reserve our 5-star sitter, Holly. the meet-and-greet went smoothly, she was flexible and so friendly. Great experience with the messaging feature: She kept us up to date with photos of our kitties every day of our trip, so we could relax knowing they were in capable, caring hands. I will definitely use the app again in the future, and Holly will be our first choice! ❤️

Holly was wonderful with our boys! We received updates and pictures daily, which helped put us at ease while we are away and missing them! I appreciate that Holly is a “silly cat lady” like I am, we meshed right away at our meet and greet. Will not hesitate to book with her again for our next trip. Thank you!!!!

Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Milwaukee cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $24.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
