  1. Update your availability regularly: Consider keeping your calendar accurate and open at least 2-3 months in advance with as many consecutive days as possible. Many cat parents book early, especially for holidays, summer, and longer travel.
  2. Enhance your sitter profile: Your sitter bio is one of the most important factor clients consider. Aim for at least 300 words and highlight your experience, love for cats, and what makes you a great sitter. A detailed bio can also help your listing visibility in web search browsers as well!
  3. Set and adjust competitive rates: You might research what other sitters in your area charge to see if your rates are competitive. Offering a fair rate can help attract a broader spectrum of clients, while still valuing your time and expertise.
  4. Expand your service area: Consider covering a 10-15 mile radius (or more if you're willing to drive further). The more neighborhoods you serve, the more potential clients you can reach!
  5. Responding quickly to chat messages: Fast replies show responsiveness and increase your chances of getting booked. Clients appreciate efficient communication when searching for the right sitter. Often, clients may reach out with questions prior to booking their reservation - a smooth client experience starts with helpful guidance and prompt communication!
  6. Get great reviews: Positive reviews build trust and encourage new clients to book with you. Providing great care, sending timely, detailed updates, including lots of photos, and helping clients have a great experience are all ways to build a strong reputation. When a reservation is complete, a friendly reminder for clients to leave a review for you can go a long way to set you up for future success.
  7. Promote your profile: Spread the word on social media, Nextdoor, or local community boards. You can also order promotional items from our Sitter Store to market your services.
  8. Offer clients a discount code: Set up a discount code to entice new or repeat clients to book a reservation with you!

Many sitters choose to keep notes about their clients to stay organized and manage their cat care businesses smoothly. These notes are private and only visible to you.

If helpful, some sitters prefer to keep their notes professional and focused on care details and household logistics, rather than personal opinions.

Here are examples of details some sitters choose to track:

Cat Parent Preferences

  2. What is their preference for key return?

Kitty Care Routine

  1. Feeding schedule and amounts
  2. Dietary requirements and treats

The onboarding process includes a background check and typically takes 3 business days to complete. The process consists of the following steps:

  1. Check if listing submissions are open in your area by entering your zip code in the Become a Sitter page
  2. Create your Meowtel account
  3. Download the Meowtel app and start the registration process by showcasing your cat experience and knowledge
  4. Create your sitter listing and upload your profile photo
  5. Finalize your sitter listing by setting up your availability, service zones, and rates
  6. Lastly, if you choose to proceed, you'll be prompted to complete a third-party background check. At this stage, a one-time, non-refundable Profile Review Fee is collected. This fee helps cover the cost of the background check and the time involved in reviewing new sitter profiles. You'll see the fee clearly outlined before deciding whether to continue.

The primary communication method for all sitter registration updates is via email. Please check your spam folder for communications from Meowtel so that you do not miss any important notices.

  1. Check if Meowtel is accepting listing submissions in your area by entering your zip code in the Become a Sitter page
  2. Create your Meowtel account
  3. Download the Meowtel app and start the submission process by sharing your cat care experience and knowledge
  4. Create your sitter listing and upload your profile photo
  5. Finalize your sitter listing by setting up your availability, service zones, and rates
  6. If you choose to proceed, you'll be prompted to complete a third-party background check. At this stage, a one-time, non-refundable Profile Review Fee is collected. This fee helps cover the cost of the background check and the time involved in reviewing new sitter profiles. You'll see the fee clearly outlined before deciding whether to continue.

All updates related to sitter submissions are shared via email, so we recommend checking your inbox (and spam folder) to avoid missing any important messages from Meowtel.

Sitters on Meowtel are independent service providers.


Cancellation refunds depend on the timing of the cancellation and are determined by the independent sitter.


  1. Cancellation within 24 hours of booking: Customers may cancel within 24 hours of booking a reservation for a 100% refund, as long as the reservation has not yet begun. 
  2. Cancellation more than 48 hours before the start date*: If you cancel more than 48 hours before the reservation start date, you’ll receive a 100% refund. The sitter will not receive any of their planned earnings.
  3. Cancellation between 24-48 hours before the start date*: Customers will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will receive 50% of their planned earnings.
  4. Cancellation within 24 hours of the start date*: No refund will be issued for cancellations within 24 hours of the start date. The sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings. 


Many sitters choose to offer refunds when cancellations happen close to the start date, while others may retain some or all of their planned earnings to account for reserved time and preparation. Any refund issued after this point is entirely at the sitter’s discretion. We encourage you to message them directly if you have questions.


*All cancellation timing is based on the sitter’s time zone. The start date is defined as 12:00 AM on the first day of the reservation.


Refunds


Refunds are issued as credits to your Meowtel account balance first.

  1. Credits never expire
  2. Credits are non-transferable
  3. You can request a refund for any eligible account balance directly from your Transactions screen, and it will be sent back to the original payment method.

*Note on Using Sitter Earnings

If sitter earnings were used to pay for a reservation, any refunded amount will be issued as a credit to your Meowtel account for future reservations or tips. These credits cannot be transferred back to the sitter’s balance or withdrawn as a payout.


Fees are based on the duration of each in-home visit. Visits typically include feeding, a water refresh, litter box cleaning, playtime and medication administration (if applicable).


For households with three (3) or more cats, a minimum 45-minute visit is required, for one visit per day. Alternatively, if you book two visits per day (AM and PM), 20-minute visits can be arranged.


Here are our recommended visit durations depending on your situation:



Overnights are always a wonderful option for any household. An overnight lasts for about 12 hours in the your home and is more than enough time to provide great care to any number of cats. Since the Meowtel platform uses time-based pricing, there are no additional fees for extra cats during an Overnight.



Only the cats listed on the reservation will receive care. If a sitter arrives and finds unlisted cats, the reservation will need to be updated, and you will be contacted for confirmation.
