What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I began cat-sitting with Meowtel in the summer of 2023 before my freshman year of college. Before that, I sat for friends and family and cared for my own kitty 24/7. I took to cat sitting very quickly and have already learned so much about bonding with the cats, sending detailed text updates, and taking the BEST photos. I know how to get cats to play whether they prefer mouse-like, bird-like, or other toys. How to earn their trust, and figure out their preferred petting methods whether it's head scratches, cheek rubs, butt pats, and more! My years of experience have equipped me to care for every breed and personality of Cat, and I always do extra research before the reservation😁😁
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Pick a cat sitter who cares about your cat's needs the way you do. I always match my clients' energy and give their cats the same above-and-beyond care they would usually provide for them. Look for fast response times and ample communication as well as a flexible schedule. I also think the quality of the photos on my page reflects my eye for cat photography, I've been told by multiple clients that my photos are top notch which helps when you're away from your beloved kitty-cat and missing them so much!
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I love working with new clients and getting to know a new kitty, that's why I offer a 15% off discount for first-time clients! 💸 Typically, I'll reach out right after you book and we'll schedule a meet and greet in the week before the reservation. At the meet and greet we'll go over feeding, water, litter clean up and how to care for your kitty. I love hearing their favorite toys, favorite scratch spots, and how to make your cat the happiest they can be. We will exchange keys, set up our communication and my visit times based on your preferences, and make a plan for the key drop. Then I will take amazing care of your kitty, giving you detailed updates and lots of amazing photos. If your cat has any favorite toys like tissue paper or string I love bringing that along with me as well!
What is your favorite cat toy?
I love a wand toy! I find I can always get a kitty interested and it brings out their hunting instincts while stimulating their attention after a lot of time alone. If you don't have any I'll ask to bring some of my own along so that your kitty gets lots of great playtime while they're missing you!!
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
First things first I always take my shoes off. I don't want to track in dirt to anyone's house and I also don't want to scare the kitty! I like to sit on the floor by the door and put my hands out so they can come to me. This establishes that our relationship happens on their terms. I also try to feed them or offer treats early on so they can associate me with food. With one particularly anxious kitty, I moved in slow motion for the entire reservation since they were scared of sudden movements. I tend to sit on the floor and let them come to me but most of all I let the cat decide what they want. I am their employee and am completely committed to making them happy, comfortable, and cared for!!

I was shocked and pleased he even showed his face so I'm very grateful for Claudia's wonderful care. She gives the best updates, photos and videos too. My older cat loves her. I can honestly say that Claudia has been the best one that I've ever had. I was in a tough spot where I was going away and needed someone last minute, and Claudia was able to come over for the meet and greet that night. She gave incredible updates multiple times a day with pictures and videos, and it actually allowed me to relax and enjoy my vacation knowing she had everything under control. She went above and beyond with so many small things, like grabbing a package and watering my plants. I can't speak highly enough about her, would recommend her 100 times out of 100.

Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Boston cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $31.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

Claudia is a great cat sitter! She gave me daily updates and pics and her photos were so good! I could tell by them that my cats really enjoyed her company and felt comfortable around her. My neighbor friend who also visited with my cats said that Claudia did great. Food, litter box, water, etc all looked good.
