Cat Sitting in Brooklyn, NY

Hello cat lovers!

I have two adorable cats of my own, a polydactyl black cat with beyond believable jumping powers that has made the top of the fridge her favorite napping location. And a newly adopted tabico 1 year old who absolutely loves playing chase, swatting any small toy around the house and does cute jumping headbutts when she sees you.

I have been watching neighborhood cats since I was a kid. I love how different their personalities are and finding their own unique ways to interact. I’ve watched kittens who need that extra love and play time to seniors with medical needs like ear and oral ointments or pills, and understand that it’s about making them feel safe and happy in their homes when they’re missing their humans...
Hello cat lovers!

I have been watching neighborhood cats since I was a kid. I love how different their personalities are and finding their own unique ways to interact. I’ve watched kittens who need that extra love and play time to seniors with medical needs like ear and oral ointments or pills, and understand that it’s about making them feel safe and happy in their homes when they’re missing their humans. I’m there to make that time the easiest on them as possible, from giving them the space they need to the interaction and playtime they need as much as food, water and medications while you’re away. To me the best compliment is when the cats behave upon your return as if you’d just gone to the store for a few minutes, not away for weeks.

I love sharing photos and videos with their humans to show how well they’re doing. I am an Artist, so I take pride in trying to get the best pictures possible for you! This also means my schedule is flexible and my own to create.

After a long trip, it’s a pet-peeve of my own to come home to a smelly, messy home, so I am very mindful of keeping on top of litter boxes and trash or any hairballs around the place. I am also happy to open and close windows while there to allow air flow, turning on and off AC’s as necessary for humidity and heat, I’ll even water the plants if you like and bring in packages and the mail.

Learn More About Christina

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been cat-sitting since I was a child, and as an adult for over 20 years. I have taken care of elderly kitties to kittens, social to nervous and shy.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love learning each cats personality and discovering what it is that makes them happy and comfortable. I love that headbutt nod of approval and trust.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

It’s hard to pick just one, but it’s always rewarding when you win over a shy kitty, and they treat you like an old friend. And I love sharing the photos of the kitty happy and relaxed getting pets.

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have 2! Nora is a very athletic 8 year old on a special diet. She is black polydactyl independent and talkative girl who is 100% committed to her mood, be that snuggle to play time, she’s always all in. And Dusty is a newly adopted Tabico 1yr old who is incredibly fast and has the tiniest most adorable meow.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Someone with patience and a calm demeanor that can respond and read the body language of the cats needs and make the experience of your absence as easy on the cat as possible.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

Typically we schedule a meet and greet so that I can learn where everything is kept and how you typically feed and interact with your cat. In addition we go over general cleaning info as well, from where and how trash is removed, recycling and their boxes. Any house quirks are helpful to go over as well, from a sticky lock to a noisy neighbor, just so that I can be the most prepared to help.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

During the meet-n-greet I always like to learn of the cat is the type that likes to get out the door, and their typical methods to help prevent this. I also ask that any medication info is printed out with a vet contact especially if the cat is elderly and plan for emergency situations ahead of time together with the cat parents.

Are you usually available during holidays?

I am typically available during holidays.

What is your favorite cat toy?

I love a laser toy, as it can let a shyer cat play at a distance or a younger cat get some good exercise in. And I love a good pounce game, putting any toy under a blanket or paper letting the cats pounce away!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I talk to shy kitties in a soft voice, letting them know where I am so that I don’t startle them, and try to see if they’re feeling safe enough to smell my hand or lightly play or even just watch a toy if too shy. I am patient with them and if they’re showing signs that they’re not ready for interaction let them come to me when they’re ready.

Couldn’t have asked for a better first sitting experience for our kitten. Christina kept us consistently updated and was very attentive keeping a close eye on a potential tummy issue. She even made an extra visit to check on how he was doing.

Rebooked Christina and so glad I did! From the photos and videos she sent, it was clear my cat Frank remembered her and was happy to see her again. She was wonderful and very thorough. Even with my limited cell service, she consistently kept me updated—even when I couldn’t respond. Highly recommend her!

Christina was great and super friendly! She was prompt with updates and always sent videos and pictures, which gave me peace of mind while I was away. I had a slight concern about my cat’s urinary health, and she kept me updated on what she noticed, which I really appreciated. Highly recommend her!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Brooklyn cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $30.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
