Reserving Your Sitter – 9 questions answered

Vaccinations are not required to book on Meowtel. Most sitters on the platform do not require vaccinations, but you can always confirm with your sitter if needed.

Log in to your Meowtel account

  1. Log in to your Meowtel account using your phone number or email address on Meowtel.com or the Meowtel App.

Begin your sitter search

  1. Start your search by tapping the “Search” button in the Meowtel app or the “Search” icon on the Meowtel website.
  2. Confirm the dates that you wish to reserve a sitter by selecting the first day and the last day you will need on your reservation:.
  3. If you want to narrow down your search based on service type or medication needs, you can use "Filters" on both Meowtel.com or the Meowtel App.

Book your reservation

  1. Click on any sitter’s photo to review their profile, including their availability, reviews, bio, and note any schedule constraints they may have. Click “Book [Sitter’s Name] Now” when you are ready to proceed.
  2. Please note, if you are looking to book a short notice or last minute reservation, some sitters may have advance notice requirements and may not be able to accommodate your request.

Confirm your reservation details

  1. Confirm your home address (the location where your sitter will be taking care of your cats) is correct, and ensure you have listed all cats to be included on the reservation. Then click “Save & Continue”.

Select your dates and preferences

  1. Select each date you require cat sitting services. The calendar will display the dates when the sitter you’ve selected is available for drop-in visits and/or overnight stays. After selecting the dates you need, click “Save & Continue”.
  2. For each of the dates on the reservation, select the number of visits per day, preferred visit times (Morning, Evening, etc), and visit durations.
  3. After selecting your “Preferences”, tap “Save and Continue”

Review your reservation

  1. Review your reservation details, including the dates you’ve selected, number of visits, the visit times, and visit durations.
  2. You can also include an introductory message to your sitter, share medication requirements, or any specific scheduling requests.

Confirm your reservation request

  1. Enter your payment information and submit your reservation request. A temporary authorization hold will be placed on your card at that time.

What happens next?

  1. Once your sitter accepts the reservation request, your payment method will be charged. Your sitter may contact you via the Meowtel inbox to introduce themselves, ask questions, or suggest a Meet and Greet before your reservation is set to begin. You may also initiate a conversation with your sitter via the Meowtel inbox.


  1. Coupon codes must be applied before submitting your reservation request and cannot be applied after the reservation request has been accepted by your sitter.
  2. Only the cats included on the reservation will be eligible for care.
  3. You may see a temporary hold on your credit card upon initially submitting a reservation request to a sitter. While the reservation request is pending sitter acceptance, please note that the hold is not yet a charge, but an authorization to ensure funds are available. The charge will complete upon the sitter’s acceptance of your reservation request.
  4. Once the reservation request is received, sitters have 24 hours to accept or decline the request. If they do not take action before 24 hours pass, or if they decline your reservation request, the pending authorization on your credit card will be released.

Yes! After you've selected your dates, you will be able to choose the number of visits you need, your time preference, and the duration for each visit by clicking on the edit button on each date on the "Select Preferences" page. You can select up to 4 visits in one day (morning, midday, evening & overnight stay). You can only select from the options that the sitter offers and is available for.

Most sitters respond within minutes, yet please be patient, as all sitters on Meowtel are independent service providers and have a variety of schedules. Some provide cat sitting services full-time, while others may have an office job during the day, and take care of beloved kitty clients during their personal time.


Every sitter has 24 hours to either accept or decline a reservation request once it is received. If they do not take action within that time span or if they decline your request, your reservation request will be canceled, and the temporary pending charge on your credit card will be released. You're then welcome to submit a new reservation request to a different sitter.

Cat sitters on Meowtel are committed to providing you and your cat(s) with great care. To ensure that your cat sitter's time is respected, we encourage cat parents on Meowtel to supply all pertinent information needed so sitters can perform their services as su-purr-bly as possible.


The following tips will help solidify your status as a "purrfect client":


  1. Be as complete and thorough with your expectations and directions as possible. Please complete all sections of your profile including My Cats and My Home.
  2. Complete your Vet Release Form. This form authorizes your sitter to take your kitty to the vet in an emergency situation.
  3. If your sitter has questions or concerns, please know they may require responsiveness (especially if their concern is urgent in nature). If there are any alternate contacts or additional ways to reach you while you are away, please share them with your sitter before the reservation begins.
  4. Please alert your sitter in advance if you will potentially be unreachable for any portion of time during the reservation. Some examples include when you may have limited internet/phone access, if you are staying off-the-grid or at remote destinations, long distance air/sea travel, etc.
  5. Please review our Fit for Service Home Environments policy to ensure that your reservation meets these standards. Sitters on Meowtel may choose to cancel a reservation at any time if the home they are visiting is not fit for service due to pest infestations, extreme temperatures, hoarding situations, aggressive cat behavior, illegal substances or drug paraphernalia in the home, unannounced home dwellers or visitors, etc.
  6. Your sitter on Meowtel could have their listing removed if you agree to pay them outside of the Meowtel platform or schedule any visits without a reservation. Please also note that services outside of what is supported on the Meowtel platform (such as dog walking, grooming, etc.) are not covered by the Meowtel Guarantee.


There are circumstances when Meowtel may deactivate a cat parent's account, such as:


  1. Breach of terms
  2. Home environment is unfit for service
  3. Harassment or inappropriate conduct
  4. Sitter complaints or escalations
  5. Multiple reports of lack of communication/unresponsiveness


The following services and items are not supported on the Meowtel platform:


  1. Other pet-sitting platforms
  2. Boarding, kenneling, grooming, nail trimming, or any other service not supported on the platform
  3. Social media handles
  4. Promotion of other products or services
  5. Scheduled veterinary visits
  6. Dog walking or other services unrelated to cat sitting

When submitting a reservation request, you have the ability to select your preferred visit time (morning, midday, evening, anytime), which corresponds to the following timeframes:


  1. Morning Visits: 6am - 12pm
  2. Midday Visits: 12pm - 4pm
  3. Evening Visits: 4pm - 10pm
  4. Anytime Visits: 6am - 10pm


If you have specific timing requirements for your sitter's visit(s), please be sure to communicate these clearly before the reservation begins.



We strongly recommend making separate reservations if there will be more than three days between visits from your sitter. This provides greater flexibility if you need to modify or cancel your plans.


For example, if you have trips planned for two separate weekends in the same month, instead of booking one reservation with several days between visits, it's better to book separate reservations for each weekend. This way, our 48-hour cancellation policy and cutoff for booking modifications will apply to each reservation separately, rather than just one, providing you with more flexibility if you need to make modifications to your reservation(s).

It's never too early to start planning. Many sitters on Meowtel open their calendars two to three months in advance, with some even offering availability up to a year in advance! Keep in mind, sitters get booked up quickly ahead of holidays and big travel months.
