I have two cats, Bear and Bean (named for their birthplace of Chicago!), and I have spent my entire life around cats. I know how scary it can be to leave your pets, so my goal is to give you peace of mind so you can enjoy your trip and know your kitty will be safe and sound when you return. I'm extremely diligent and thorough, so expect high-quality and very adorable photos of your cat and very detailed notes from my visits.
I have experience with many different cats: I grew up with two very large tom cats who were not the friendliest, and I have my cats who are the cuddliest little ladies you'll ever meet... I'm the person who spends the whole party sitting on the floor with the cat.

Since working with Meowtel, I’ve spent time with all kinds of cats, including:
- cats with medical needs (ear drops, eye drops, and injections).
- super cranky and semi-aggressive cats.
- cuddly cats who want pets and attention all the time.
- playful pets who want to zoom around!
- shy cats pretending to be invisible.
I'm great at building relationships with cats and pride myself on getting even the shyest cat out of its shell for a quick sniff and a nuzzle. However, I prioritize respecting their boundaries and making sure they're comfortable and happy. Travel can be scary for kitties, too, so I let them tell me if they want nonstop pets and lots of attention or a quick hello and their space.
In addition to my love of cats, I also love plants! So if you have any plant residents in addition to your feline ones, I'm happy to check on or water them as needed.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love using cat sitting as a way to explore my city and check out neighborhoods I haven't been to yet. I'm new to Detroit, so kindly share any food/drink/activity recs when you book so I can add to my ever-growing list.
What is your favorite cat toy?
I love the tiered ball toy. It’s so funny when the cat tries to grab it with both paws and ends up hugging it. I also love the pure joy of a nice high jump into a perfectly sized box or bag.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Before the visit, I talk to the client to gauge the cat's comfort level. I ask about favorite hiding spots and confirm that the parents are OK with fewer photos and videos, so I don’t stress the cat out more. I want to ensure the cat is comfortable and feels safe! During the visit, I like to make my presence known by saying hi when I come in, then i talk to them while I do the food/litter, etc. so they know where I am in the home and know they can hide if they want. If they do decide to come out, I’ll give them some treats (if the parent says OK!) and sit with them and let them dictate the visit and if we play, do any pets, etc.

I would give Rachel more stars if I could. She watched Kitty while I was in Europe. She noticed a potential injury while when it was nighttime for me but still daytime in Chicago. Rachel had the good judgement to reach out to my sister (as well as text me) in case I was sleeping (which I was). She handled it with my sister before I woke up. This exceeded expectations. Apart from our slight emergency, Rachel was the utmost professional, great communicator, and so sweet towards my very needy teenage cat.

This was my first time using this app and it was awesome! Rachel was everything I hoped for and more. She sent detailed updates and pictures and spent the entire time playing with my cat. My cat can be a little picky about meeting people the first time, so it was obvious Rachel gets cats because my cat LOVED her. Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Detroit cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $27.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
