What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I have several years of experience caring for cats through pet-sitting platforms and private clients. I have cared for kittens, senior cats, shy cats, multi-cat households, and even a blind cat who needed extra patience and attention. I am comfortable following feeding schedules, cleaning litter boxes, administering basic care, and providing companionship based on each cat’s personality. Caring for cats is something I truly enjoy, and I always treat them as if they were my own.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
When working with a new cat parent, I start by learning as much as possible about their cat’s routine, personality, preferences, and any special needs. I like to discuss feeding schedules, favorite toys, hiding spots, medications, and emergency contacts. During the booking, I provide regular updates with photos and messages so owners know their cat is doing well. I believe clear communication, reliability, and attention to detail help both cats and their owners feel comfortable and confident.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I always let anxious cats set the pace. I never force interaction and focus on creating a calm, predictable environment. I speak softly, move slowly, and give them space to observe me until they feel comfortable. I pay close attention to body language and respect their boundaries. Over time, even very shy cats often begin to trust me because I am patient and consistent. My goal is always to make cats feel safe, secure, and stress-free while their owners are away.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Brooklyn cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $30.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
