Cat Sitting in Brooklyn, NY

As a former zookeeper, I started my animal care career volunteering at a wildlife sanctuary where I cared for big cats. The most fascinating thing I have experienced is that all cats, regardless of size, have so many similar mannerisms. In my time as a zookeeper, I have worked with tigers, lions, cougars, leopards, snow leopards, servals and bobcats. The main part of the job included feeding, watering and cleaning up after the cats. Some of the more interesting parts of the job were training, enrichment, and being a part of big cat surgeries.

I have two cats named Frida and Paloma that I adopted from the Animal Care Center in NYC. Frida is an energetic cat that we adopted as a kitten. She loves to fetch springs and jump into the air to try and catch string toys. Paloma was six years old when we adopted her. She loves to sleep most of the day and will fight for the best napping spots in our apartment.

During my time as a zookeeper, I have been involved in medical procedures, surgical procedures, and cared for animals post-operation. Additionally, I have a great deal of experience administering medications. I have given oral medication to bats, rhinos, tigers, lemurs, and aardvarks. I have applied topical ointments to bats, tigers, and bears. I have given eye drops to bats and lemurs. Although I have not given any cat injections, I have given injections to bats.

This month

Paty was as always an exceptional sitter and my cat adored her. He had a flare of a chronic condition while I was away and Paty was patient, kind, and communicative about how he was, was excellent at coaxing him to take his medication, and provided detailed updates throughout.

Paty was as always such a stellar sitter - thorough and patient and inventive with solutions even with my cat who decided he no longer enjoyed his pill pockets while I was away. I was so grateful for her care and for the detailed, thoughtful updates and photos she sent while I was away for two weeks - MC was so happy to be with her!

Paty was an incredible catsitter - was absolutely fantastic with my cat, shared detailed updates for each visit (alongside adorable photos!), and went the extra mile to coax him with his meds even when he was being finicky. MC was clearly so well loved and cared for in the two weeks I was away - thank you so much, Paty!

We just left Paty with our two boys for 2.5 weeks, by far the longest we’ve been away from them. Obviously we were a little stressed, and Paty did an amazing job making us feel comfortable that they were being well taken care of. Great communication and amazing pictures and videos from every visit. Very highly recommended!

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Brooklyn cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $30.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
