I'm Eden
Cat Sitting in Brooklyn, NY
I have two seniors of my own, so I know what a struggle it is to find a trusted pet sitter. I got my cats in 2021 when they were 10 years old and have been with them through slow introductions, cross country moves, major surgery, hyperthyroidism and kidney disease... Iām a Brooklyn based pet sitter with a soft spot for senior cats. I have 5 years of experience with cat care and sitting.
I have two seniors of my own, so I know what a struggle it is to find a trusted pet sitter. I got my cats in 2021 when they were 10 years old and have been with them through slow introductions, cross country moves, major surgery, hyperthyroidism and kidney disease. Finding someone to watch them while Iām away, who can have them on their funky eating schedule, with all their supplements, and their medicine, and their SubQ fluids is nearly impossible. I can be that person for you!
I canāt host cats at my apartment, but I can do daily drop in visits or multiple hour visits daily. My schedule is extremely flexible and am happy to work something around yours. I have extensive experience administering liquid oral and topical medications.
I love hanging out with pets and understand how to approach them gently and letting them come to me when theyāre ready. I respect all the weird quirks each one has, as mine have a lot themselves.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Ask a lot of questions about their experience caregiving. If they have cats, ask them the details of their own catās daily routines. Their attitude around their cats needs can tell you a lot about what kind of caregiver they are. Do they sound annoyed by what they have to do or do they express love and devotion? If they donāt have pets, ask them about the details of pets they have taken care of. Really ask yourself if you can trust them.
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I ask them a bunch of questions about their catās daily needs and personality. Some examples are, what are their favorite spots around the house? What are their favorite toys or ways of playing? Do they prefer to be left alone or do they like having company? Is there anything special you do for them just because they like it? What times of day are they usually awake? Is there anything theyāre not supposed to do but do it anyway (ex, eating tape or plastic, like mine do lol)?
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
Triple checking every door and window is closed. Iām extremely careful with food containers, like gently tearing open bags, squishing cans, etc so animals canāt get get their heads stuck. Iām careful not to leave rubber bands or strings loose when the cat is unsupervised so they donāt accidentally swallow something. I usually also observe them eating and a little while after they finish if they allow it so I can make sure they donāt aspirate or vomit. I always take note of whether theyāre eating, pooping, and peeing daily. If anything feels abnormal with their routines or behavior I take note, as well.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Meet them where they are and work slowly from there. For example, if they are hiding under the bed, I give them space to get used to my presence in the home, then I may sit near them and ignore them, or speak gently periodically. If they are willing to come to me, I make myself small, avoid eye contact, and give them a finger to sniff. If they rub themselves on the finger, Iāll gently pet their head. If they are willing to look in my direct Iāll do a slow blink. I always speak in a gentle voice. I avoid showing my teeth, sudden or loud movements, making eye contact, or encroaching on their personal space.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
