Dedicated Foster And Cat Sitter

I'm Nicole

Cat Sitting in Brooklyn, NY

Hi! I'm Nicole, a Williamsburg/Greenpoint based cat sitter, longtime foster, and active cat rescue volunteer.

Over the past few years, I've fostered more than 30 cats, most of them long-term. Helping them come out of their shells and transforming them into confident happy cats has been incredible. I’m so proud of the work I’ve done that I rewarded myself by adopting two of them: Paulcat and Ericka!

Through the rescue community, I met and built great relationship with some clients I’ve been cat sitting for regularly for years. I appreciate the trust they've placed in me to care for their cats while they're away.

I respect everyone’s ridiculous routines and details. If breakfast is exactly one-third of a can with a few freeze-dried chicken pieces crushed on top, that's exactly what breakfast will be...

Through the rescue community, I met and built great relationship with some clients I’ve been cat sitting for regularly for years. I appreciate the trust they've placed in me to care for their cats while they're away.

I respect everyone’s ridiculous routines and details. If breakfast is exactly one-third of a can with a few freeze-dried chicken pieces crushed on top, that's exactly what breakfast will be. If they only drink from a certain faucet or insist on treats after the litter box is cleaned, their wish is my command.

I never expect a cat to warm up to a stranger right away. Some are ready to play the moment I walk in, while others would rather keep their distance and investigate on their own terms. I'm happy to meet them where they are, whether that means breaking out the wand toy or simply sitting quietly until they decide to say hello.

Before I leave every visit, I always do one last walk-through to make sure food and water are set, the litter box is clean, doors and windows are secure, and there's nothing left behind that could get a curious cat into trouble. I know the little things matter when you're trusting someone with both your cat and your home.

I'm available during most major holidays, including the busy travel seasons. (I'd much rather spend the holidays with cats than waiting in an airport.)

Even outside of cat rescue, I am very involved in my community. I love my neighbors and I am so happy to here!

Learn More About Nicole

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I’ve been fostering with a local independent rescue group for 3.5 years. Since then, I’ve fostered over 30 cats of different ages and personalities in my home. I’ve also met many people through rescuing, some becoming regular drop in clients that I’ve been working with repeatedly. I also do free drop ins for cats that are in foster homes but still in the rescue’s care. It’s a long way of saying, I’ve worked with many many different cats the last 3.5 years.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

Obviously I love cats, but I really appreciate the trust the clients have with me with not just caring for their cats but also allowing me in their space.

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I offer free meet and greet irl, but some clients have opted for a video chat. We chat to get to know each other a bit and they can tell me about the care needed. I have a template of google doc about the needs and things I should know about the home that I ask the client to fill out. Sometimes things that are obvious to them might not be obvious to me. The doc includes detailed things like: - what they should be fed and where the foods are located - where to dispose the litter, if they flush, if they use bags to dispose outside daily, if they use a genie. - if they collect recycling a certain way - if they collect left over food in compost or not - temperature controls I should know about - location of the carriers

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Brooklyn cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $30.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
