Hi there! My name is Sally, and I am an interior designer by day and cat snuggler by night. I live in Red Hook and have been cat sitting locally for the last few years. I’ve absolutely loved getting to know and earning the trust of the cats (and parents), just as I have with my own rescue, Galina.
My story with Galina illustrates my approach to cat sitting: I adopted her when she was 3 years old, and she came with plenty of fear, resistance and preferences. While those cats were a delight, I’ve found my relationship with Galina to be so much more fulfilling because of the trust we’ve built together. At first I just existed as if she wasn’t there so she could observe me, then I began to sit at the side of the bed or leave an arm dangling off of a chair so that she would have opportunities to engage in a non-threatening way, at her own speed. Soon enough, she would jump up and sit a couple feet away from me and has inched closer and closer over time until she now totally melts into me. Through honoring her boundaries, I’ve gained her special type of affection. Whatever your cat wants goes!

One of my favorite clients has a cat who loves to be perched on your shoulder while you walk around. What a treat!
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I am in the process of introducing my cat, Galina, to her new sister, Basil!
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I give them plenty of time and space! I always make sure to get eyes on them if they are hiding but otherwise let them come to me when they feel ready.

Sally is an extraordinary cat sitter. My cat Frankie loves her. When Frankie was in distress due to UTI symptoms, Sally went above and beyond to make sure Frankie was taken care of at the pet ER and doing okay before I came back. Highly recommend!!!

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Brooklyn cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
