I fell back in love with cats when I realized that my busy schedule would make it profoundly difficult and frankly ill-advised for me to care for a dog. I remember caring for my friend's Alex and Erte's cats--Texas and Sandy--and falling in love with their calm but spirited playfulness and senses of autonomy.
Eventually, in a roundabout way, I adopted their cat--now my own, Texas, a blind, orange Tabby. She is a fiercely independent yet super loving lady... Hi, my name is Rory Cullen! I'm an animal lover (specifically cats, of course), with many years experience caring for my own and others' animals. I'm so happy to be able to take my skills from the amateur circuit to the pros.

Eventually, in a roundabout way, I adopted their cat--now my own, Texas, a blind, orange Tabby. She is a fiercely independent yet super loving lady. She will be on her own for hours, napping or exploring. When she finally rejoins me and my roommate, a wave of excitement rushes over us. Wondering: Texas, where have you been? What's on your mind? There is no joy like when she'd plop down between me and my roommate, go loaf-mode, and purr away into the night. The fact of her autonomy, her ability to step away and be in her own universe for sometimes hours at a time was something I loved; it somehow made me feel like Texas was less "mine" and more my equal. This weird, funny roommate... who I feed and... who doesn't pay rent...
I love the mystery and contentment of cats. Caring for my own has been enormously rewarding and healing. I would love to help others care for their own.
I am available in most neighborhoods of Brooklyn: especially downtown, Park Slope, Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Bed-Stuy, Williamsburg, Greenpoint.

Rory is a great cat sitter. He had a calm reassuring presence that my kitties responded well to. my cat Mars took an immediate liking to him, purring and rolling over to have his chest rubbed. My shy cat, Venus, hid under the couch when he walked in, as she does with anyone outside our immediate family, but by the end of the visit Rory and managed to draw her out with some treats and gave her some pets, and he shared videos that showed she continued to warm up to him throughout our time away. Rory listened thoughtfully to my long list of directions and contacted me quickly with questions when issues arose while we were away. He sent regular updates with photos and videos. He cleaned up after my cat, Mars, who loves to knock things over and make messes. when we returned everything was clean and in good order. Thank you, Rory, for taking such good care of our cats while we were away.

we would definitely choose Rory again! our extra shy and anxious cat seemed to tolerate him more than other sitters, and she used her litter box correctly during his visit (something she doesn’t always do when stressed about sitters). our other more friendly cat seemed to really enjoy the scratches in the videos Rory sent, and both cats seemed less stress than usual when we got home. :)

I want to thank Rory for taking care of Ben and Barney! He did a fantastic job. He was great about communicating with me, shared multiple videos and photos when he would visit, did not hesitate to ask questions if he needed more information, and really did a good job of making the boys feel taken care of. The boys also really liked Rory and were not stressed when we came home. We decided to go with a professional sitter after the last time we had a friend stay with the boys, and I am so glad we did. I am 100% going to book Rory again for our next trip. THANK YOU RORY!

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th
- September 4-10: Labor Day
- October 9-15: Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day
- November 8-14: Veterans Day
- November 23-29: Thanksgiving
- December 22-28: Christmas
- December 29-31: New Year's 2027
Rory's holiday surcharge is 30%.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Brooklyn cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $31.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
