I've had cats all my life. My current kitty is named Kali! She's 14, very small (she's a munchkin) and very opinionated.
As for cat sitting, I like to let the cats lead our interactions. I find they're more likely to be open and friendly with me when I move slowly and cater to their needs (and their love of treats)... Hey cat parents :) My name is Leyna, and currently I'm a full time college student studying Networks and Cybersecurity! From late August to Mid December I will also be enrolled in a 15-19hr a week internship, which will impact my availability on weekdays!

As for cat sitting, I like to let the cats lead our interactions. I find they're more likely to be open and friendly with me when I move slowly and cater to their needs (and their love of treats). I understand the anxiety of being away from your kitty, and I'll do my best to relieve that anxiety with frequent pictures, updates, and attentive care.
I'm happy to play with them, and I don't mind handling kitties that are prone to nipping or scratching.
I can scoop litter, sweep kitty areas, provide fresh water, and accommodate for any specific/special food needs.
I can administer topical medications, pills, and ear drops! I will not administer medications involving needles.
I have experience with cats that have tummy issues, so I don't mind having to clean up kitty barf/etc.
I'll do my best keep your kitty (or kitties) entertained, and I'm positive that I can make them happy!

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I'm relatively new to cat sitting (I started in Nov 2025), but I've had cats my whole life so I'm knowledgeable on how to best care for them and accommodate for their feelings.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I enjoy making new kitty friends and making sure they're well cared for. I can understand the anxiety of not knowing if your cat is being looked after well or worrying that they're anxious without you, so I like providing that relief for the cat parent.
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
For about a month I visited a clients house every few days, and their kitties grew very friendly with me. One of the kitties was previously in an abusive situation, so it was a big deal for him to be so willing to lay on my chest and drool all over me. The other kitty started out very skittish, but later started to join in on the cuddles. I think about those kitties often, and I'm honored to have become someone they felt so safe around.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
My current cat is named Kali. She's a 14 year old munchkin who's a bit of a diva, but she's very sweet and cuddly. I adore her so much I made her an Instagram account haha!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
My advice is to find a cat sitter that you're sure can fit your needs. Check if they can provide your cat's kind of medication if applicable. Check their availability and their distance from you for a higher chance of an accepted reservation. Note their photos. Checking reviews is also helpful!
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
My typical process is to ask what their kitties need and request a picture of their kitty if they haven't set up their profile yet. I'll also set up a meet and greet if that's something they're interested in.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
To ensure their safety and security I always open front doors as little as possible, ensuring that when entering and exiting a curious kitty can't get out of their home. I also do my best to walk slowly if the kitty is walking near me to reduce the chance of tripping over them when they get underfoot.
Are you usually available during holidays?
I'm available all federal holidays EXCEPT Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. My availability is open for most of the smaller holidays ie. Veterans Day, MLK Day, etc., including Valentine's Day.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I take everything very slow. Not walking too fast, not talking too loudly and especially not forcing them to be pet. I've also found that taking off my shoes helps kitties feel less anxious around me! I let them come to me, and I'll offer treats or food I have been told they like and let the kitty do all the thinking. I've also found that simply sitting near them is a good way to build a connection!

Leyna has been an absolute blessing as our cat sitter. She is incredibly attentive, gentle, and genuinely caring with both of my cats. What truly amazed me was how quickly she earned Alice’s trust. My girl, Alice, is very picky and usually takes a long time to warm up to new people, but Leyna made her feel comfortable almost immediately. Leyna is also wonderful with Percy, who is still a playful, high-energy kitten. Leyna always makes sure to spend quality time playing with him during every visit and even to clean up the mess Percy makes. which I really appreciate. Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.

Austin cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
