What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I’ve been cat sitting for 20 years, but my experience with cats goes far beyond that. I’ve had cats in my life for as long as I can remember, and I currently care for three of my own. Over the years, I’ve provided cat sitting services for friends, family, and clients—caring for cats of all breeds, temperaments, and ages, including shy rescues, playful kittens, and senior cats. This hands-on experience has given me a strong understanding of feline behavior, body language, and daily care routines. I know how to create a calm, safe environment for cats and can quickly adapt to each cat’s unique personality. Whether it’s feeding, administering medication, litter box maintenance, or just spending quality time, I’m confident in my ability to provide loving and reliable care.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
When looking to hire a cat sitter, it’s important to find someone who is not only trustworthy but also genuinely understands and respects feline behavior. Here’s some key advice I’d offer: 1. Look for Experience with Cats Not all pet sitters are experienced with cats, so ask about their specific background with felines. Cats have unique needs and personalities, and a sitter who understands cat body language, routines, and possible stress triggers will provide better care. 2. Schedule a Meet-and-Greet Always arrange a meeting beforehand so you can observe how the sitter interacts with your cat and ask questions about their approach. It’s also a chance to walk them through your home, routines, feeding, litter box cleaning, and emergency protocols. 3. Ask for References and Reviews A reputable sitter will be happy to provide references from other cat owners or direct you to online reviews. This helps ensure they have a track record of reliability and responsible care.
How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?
As your cat sitter, your pet’s safety and well-being are my top priorities. Here are the steps I take to make sure your cat is safe, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away: 1. Secure Environment: I carefully follow your instructions regarding which areas of the home the cat is allowed in, ensuring windows and doors are properly closed or locked to prevent escapes. 2. Routine Checks: During each visit, I do a head-to-tail visual check of your cat for any signs of illness or injury, and I monitor eating, drinking, and litter box habits to catch any issues early. 3. Emergency Preparedness: I keep your vet’s contact information on hand and know where the nearest emergency clinic is located. I also carry a pet first aid kit and am trained in basic pet first aid procedures. 4. I cannot recommend Jennifer enough. I’m not exaggerating when I say she is the best cat-sitter I’ve ever had. She kept me completely informed about my baby every single visit. It is so clear that she really cares about cats, and takes the sitting very seriously. There was even a potential fire in my complex’s apartment and after freaking out and letting Jennifer know she promptly jumped into action. Thankfully the fire was contained before reaching my unit, but Jennifer still went to check on Cricket just in case! She went above and beyond and I can now enjoy my vacation knowing Ms Cricket is being extremely well cared for.

Jennifer is fantastic! She did a phenomenal job watching over our cat Gus for two weeks. We took an overseas trip and were never concerned about him because she gives thorough updates each visit. She is very nice and professional but best of all she feels like a friend or family member was watching over him because of the level of care given. She provides plenty of photos, which I loved. It was nice to see him clearly loving on her. I can tell Gus had a great time with Jennifer.

Jennifer did a wonderful job looking after our two kittens! This was the longest we'd been away from them since adopting them, and we couldn't have been happier with how things went. She was very thorough in her care of them, sent us tons of pictures during every visit, and doted on them like they were her own! Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:

- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Austin cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.
We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
