Cat Sitting in Austin, TX

Hi, I am Shelly, and appreciate the opportunity to introduce myself to you and your cat
family! I am the proud owner of 3 rescue cats, two 13-year olds and a 12-year old senior,
and would love to share my experience of cats with your family.

One of my cats is diabetic, and I have been able to control her once very high glucose levels
naturally, all with diet and supplements. I am extremely comfortable administering
multiple, high-level medications and supplements, and can precisely distribute doses.
Also, one of my cats is a feral that I have cared for since she was born. With a lot of work,
she has learned trust and confidence, and lives a beautiful and happy life in my home (and
gets along great with the other cats). She requires special patience and a delicate, calm
demeanor, which I have.

Personally, I lead a health-focused and organic lifestyle, which means I keep my immune
system strong, ensuring I do not have any excess bacteria to transfer to your pet. This is
highly important to consider when selecting someone to care for your loved ones...

Personally, I lead a health-focused and organic lifestyle, which means I keep my immune
system strong, ensuring I do not have any excess bacteria to transfer to your pet. This is
highly important to consider when selecting someone to care for your loved ones.
Additionally, I go the extra mile and take further precautions while in your home so that I
remain exceptionally clean. I will discuss with you all the measures I take to protect your
kitty.

Professionally, I have been a high-level business owner for years, and now that my business
is self-sufficient, I am able to devote time to your pet. In the business world, I have traits
that are especially important for you- a few being timeliness, attention to detail and
accuracy.

Why would I be a good caretaker for your loved ones? It’s simple. Running a high-level
business is challenging, and at the end of the day, what has always brought me the most
happiness are my pets. I have always had a special gift with animals. They have a unique
sense and even the most timid animals open up to me.

My love for animals runs deep, and I have always had pets my entire life. From cats and
dogs, to a turtle, iguana and even pet snake, I have been surrounded by animals. I have
rescued every animal imaginable, and can proudly say that all 3 of my cats are rescueswith one of them being feral (and the sweetest cat I’ve ever owned).

The joy and fulfillment I receive from caring for animals, specifically cats (my expertise), is a
joy like no other for me, and that makes it all worth it. Thank you for your consideration and
trust with your family member(s)

Learn More About Shelly

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have experience caring for my own cats my entire life, and have cared for others’ cats in my family. Since I have raised many senior cats from birth, I have full spectrum knowledge of cat behaviors, medication support and care for felines.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love caring for cats and always have! I love it so much that I have rescued feral cats (I’m certified with the Feral Cat Coalition), cared for rescues who need homes and have cared for other cats belonging to friends and family. I feel connected to cats' personalities and truly understand how special and intuitive they really are.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

I'd recommend you write a list of some questions and make sure they’re all answered during your initial meeting with a sitter. Things to consider are timeliness of the sitter, their sanitation protocol, their special guidelines/restrictions as a sitter (which could be beneficial or go against what you want), and their overall experience. Lastly, it’s so important to make sure you and your kitties really have a good connection with the sitter. Always trust your gut instinct!

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I take cleanliness and sanitation procedures very seriously, as the health of your cat is of the upmost importance to me. I always wear protective shoe coverings when I am caring for a cat, to ensure I do not track in any dirt or bacteria from outside. Additionally, I wear gloves when cleaning litter boxes. Keeping your household free of bacteria that could transmit from another household is important, and I am happy to take these measures for your cat's safety and wellbeing.

What is your favorite cat toy?

My cats all love the Potarama electronic, motion-activated boomerang toy, as well as their large chirping birds. They have the best time with them!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I have a lot of experience with shy cats, as I have worked with, and personally own a semi-feral cat, who I cannot even pet. Cats all have such unique personalities, and they prefer routine. Any outside noises, different people or anything outside of their norm can scare them. Other times, cats are just shy overall as part of their personality. With shy cats, I take a more delicate approach. I always, always give them their space, as some cats prefer to just be talked to and not necessarily played with, like other more outgoing cats. I always let the cat tell me what their boundaries are, and respect whatever that it.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

Austin cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $26.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet!
