What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I’ve taken care of so many kitties over 20 years and actually took care of 20 cats last year (on and off this app).
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
My favorites were Mir and Lucie. They went wild for Churu and their toys. Mir can’t hear and has a neurological disorder that makes him walk a little wobbly but that doesn’t stop him from living his best life, like riding my back like he’s a baby goat. Lucie has asthma but she still plays so much. They were hilarious together and I loved taking care of them.
Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?
I do! Her name is Katy and she’s a 17yo senior kitty. We adopted her five years ago and she was 19lbs! It’s been a beautiful journey giving her a retirement home and she’s now down to 10.8lbs! 🥳
What is your favorite cat toy?
The laser! Cats go wild for it and I love watching them play. I always give treats after too (if allowed).

Above and beyond! Karina maintained amazing communication, kept a really regular schedule, and managed to broker peace between my mature cat and my crazy kitten. On top of everything, I returned from my travels to a tidy home. I can't say enough about what a positive experience I had. I would recommend Karina in a heartbeat. My neighbors also had nice things to say about her. :)

Karina was above and beyond in all ways possible! my cat loved her at first sight, she consulted me on an ongoing litterbox problem, was so loving towards my cat that my 3-day leaved could not have been better in terms of cat concerns. This is my second time coming right back to Karina, because my somewhat shy-tempered kitty loved her immediately. When we returned I could see in her eyes she was reassured and warmly taken care of. Karina thinks for her like her own cat, viewing her environment to imagine what might be best for her, and do things out of her expected responsibility to absolutely ensure their comfort. I am so moved by her, and Yubi (my kitten) and I are forever helped by her. Thank you, and I will keep coming back to Karina as long as I live in nyc. I'm so glad I found Karina for my Ryuk ! he's kind of a silly guy and he's been a little standoffish with pet sitters in the past but he must've felt at ease with Karina. He has hyperthyroidism and we think hyperesthesia that he takes meds for and she was wonderful taking care of him. She gave amazing videos and pictures so I knew Ryuk was having a good time !! and also gave me a report of the visit after. I feel like I can go on vacation without worries !!! thank you Karina I know Ryuk would love to see you next time !!

It was obvious from the many images and videos that my cats loved and trusted her. They played, they showed their bellies, and were even comfortable enough to use the box in front of her! I came home to happy babies and that makes traveling feel easier.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:
- January 1-4: New Year's 2026
- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth
- July 1-7: July 4th
- September 4-10: Labor Day
- October 9-15: Columbus Day / Indigenous Peoples' Day
- November 8-14: Veterans Day
- November 23-29: Thanksgiving

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Jersey City cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $31.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
