Cat Sitting in New York, NY

Availability open now through October 31st! šŸˆā€ā¬›

Hi! My name is Madison. I’m 27, I live on the Upper West Side, and I work at a college in New Jersey. I’m originally from Texas, and I moved to New York in 2023. I have loved cats since I got my first cat, Piper, in sixth grade. Unfortunately, she passed away about three years ago, which was an extremely tough loss. I’ve wanted to get my own cat, but my life in New York has been busy and I don’t think I’d be able to give a cat the attention it deserves right now. That’s where cat-sitting comes in! I get to spend time with sweet kitties without the commitment of taking care of my own during this busy season of life.

My cat-sitting style involves letting your cat be the boss. If they want to play the whole time, fine by me. Cuddles the whole time? Amazing...

Amazing. If they’re shy, that’s fine too! Piper was a rescue cat and she took two years to warm up to me. My only interaction for years was joining her under my bed and staring at her until one day, she decided to come out during the day.

Toward the end of Piper’s life, she was sick, so I gained skills administering medication (topical, ear drops, and by mouth) and hiding pills in unique ways to trick her since she was super smart. I have also used an inhaler on a cat. Please note that I do not have formal veterinary training. I am happy to administer topical meds or oral meds if your cat will enthusiastically take them mixed with food, treats, or in a pill pocket. I am NOT experienced or skilled in administering medications to cats who are aggressive or frightened, and I am not qualified to do injections.

I have a hybrid job, so I am in the office M-W and am able to visit cats on the Upper West Side before and after work, and I can see all other cats after work. On Thursday and Friday, I am remote, so my schedule is more flexible. I’d love to work with you, so let me know about your schedule!

Learn More About Madison

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I love meeting new cats always, whether it’s briefly on the street/at the bodega, or getting to know them at a cat-sitting reservation. Visiting the same cat frequently and forming a bond with them is such a joy.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

My favorite reservations are the ones where the kitties are cuddly!! I miss kitty cuddles in my day-to-day life. That said, if you have a shy kitty, I’m more than happy to hang out with them as well!

What is your favorite cat toy?

I love a crinkle toy or anything on a string that you can dangle for the cat to play with!

Madison was a great sitter! She did a great job dispensing my geriatric cat's medications (pills and ear cream) and provided detailed updates after every visit. She was also very flexible, adjusting her stays to my cat's needs for the day. I came home to a very happy cat!

Madison was the best cat sitter I could have asked for! As a recent and first time cat mom to an 8month-ish kitten, I was nervous about going away on a 10 day trip. Madison put those nerves to rest with the attentive and loving care she provided for Gigi. She was very communicative and provided adorable updates with photos every day. It was clear she really cares about the cats she watches. I will definitely be hiring her in the future when I go away!

  • More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.

Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

If it doesn't feel like a purrfect fit after a Meet & Greet or during a reservation, our support team is here to help at 1-844-Meowtel (1-844-636-9835). We'll take time to understand what happened and help you consider next steps, which could include help with a new reservation.

New York cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $31.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.

Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Cats are territorial animals and don't do well in new environments. The presence of other cats, dogs, and even birds in kennels or animal hotels cause an immense amount of stress. This is why Meowtel was created, so tailored in-home care is brought to you.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.

Each visit typically includes: feeding, refreshing water bowls, litter box scooping, tidying up, medications, updates with photos, lots of playtime, and any special requests. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet!
