This year marks Meowtel’s first-ever Cat Sitter Appreciation Week, and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than by hearing directly from our community. We invited both cat parents and sitters to share stories about the moments that made a lasting impact. 🐱
We loved reading every story that came in. While we wish we could share all of them, we’re highlighting a few that capture the care, connection, and peace of mind that so many Meowtel sitters bring to cats and their families every day.
🐈 From sitter Megan:
“Since I was a young child, I’ve had a magical connection with cats. When my mom got sick, I was no longer allowed to be around animals as her condition got worse. After she passed away when I was 16, my world was shattered. But I also got something back: animals. I’ve been working with cats ever since, and I’m so grateful.
It’s the little moments that make me feel like I’m making a difference. Cat parents telling me they could actually enjoy their trip because I was with their fur baby, or making an anxious kitty feel safe, respected, and cared for.
One lovely senior kitty was very thin from health issues and could only eat wet food in small amounts at a time. I gave her cat parent the idea of using an automatic feeder with ice packs so she could eat more throughout the day, and she has already gained a pound and is doing better. ☺️”
It’s stories like this that remind us how meaningful cat sitting can be - not just for cats, but for the people who love them.
🐈 From cat parent, Nina, about their sitter, Amber:
“Our cat sitter is Amber. She was so good with Miss HoneyCat, who bit her seriously when Amber first took care of her. Despite a sore and swollen hand, Amber returned daily for HoneyCat and took care of her several more times when we were away.
She knows how to manage tortitude. When HoneyCat crossed the Rainbow Bridge, Amber gave us several beautiful pictures and a stained glass window ornament to honor HoneyCat’s favorite perch at the window. We have a new tortie now, and Amber is so good with her too.”
This story captures so much of what makes being a sitter on Meowtel meaningful to begin with: the patience to meet a cat where they are, and the trust that grows between sitter and cat parent because of it.
From sitter Pamela:
“My first reservation kitty, Kika, will always hold a special place in my heart. This sweet girl was described by her family as super shy and unlikely to be seen at all.
Now, she yells at me when I walk through the door, demands a lap to lay in, and a hand to pet her.
Her family has since moved about 45 minutes away, but they still reach out so they can book with me. I don’t mind driving 90 minutes round trip to spend time with my favorite lady.”
We’re so touched by Pamela’s willingness to go the extra mile (literally!) for a cat she’s built such a special bond with.
From cat parent, Gloria, about their sitter, Cynthia:
“Cynthia has been our Meowtel catsitter for a few years now. She is reliable, cares for my cats as if they are her own, and sends amazing, detailed updates with pictures.
She has done very long reservations when we’re doing two-week trips to Europe. We also appreciate coming home from a trip to find baked goods, cases of cat food donations for my foster cats, or huge piles of handmade fleece adoption blankets that I give when my fosters are adopted.
She always goes above and beyond, which means we can travel with no worries about our fur kids. She not only takes care of their basic needs, but she also gives them love, so they aren’t lonely. We’re blessed to have found her through Meowtel.”
This story is such a beautiful example of generosity in action, with care that reaches far beyond the visit itself. Way to go, Cynthia!

“Our cat sitter Nick is an extra special kitty whisperer who goes above and beyond for every visit. He plays with our little Bella like she is his own, keeping her from being lonely when we’re away.
After every visit, Nick leaves us a little Polaroid of our kitty along with a handwritten ‘report card’ of her activities while we were gone. It’s so thoughtful and so adorable! We ♥️ you, Nick!”
A handwritten report card and a Polaroid of your cat? That’s our kind of report card! It’s such a sweet example of what makes great sitters unforgettable: the genuine care they bring, and the personal touches that make cat parents feel connected even while they’re away.
