What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I started cat sitting as a teen in the building I grew up in. Over 30 years ago! Sally was my first charge, a beautiful Abbysinian. I still think of her often.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
Each cat is a unique creature of her own making. I love getting to know each cat as an individual.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I am Fear Free Certified and, as such, would take my cues from her. Also I would encourage her with treats and Churu!

Jane was so good with our cats and so easy and professional to deal with. Weād recently moved from California to NYC, and were nervous about entrusting someone new with our babies, but Jane put as at ease, was really thorough and sent amazing updates (plus the cats loved her). Weāll definitely be using Janeās services again! Would highly recommend!

Jane is an absolute gem of a cat sitter and I can't recommend her enough.We have two cats with very different personalities: Coda is a social butterfly, but Channel is extremely shy and typically hides from everyone. Within minutes of meeting Jane, Channel came right out. That alone tells you everything you need to know about her energy with animals. Jane was so attentive, loving, and genuinely invested in their wellbeing every single visit. Both cats adored her and honestly, so did we. It was such a relief to leave them in her care knowing they were in the best possible hands. We were heartbroken when we moved further uptown and could no longer work with her. If you have the chance to book Jane, do it. Your cats will thank you. š¾

I've known Jane for years through our work together at the ASPCA's Kitten Nursery, and I can say without hesitation that she is one of the most responsible, organized, and genuinely animal-centered people I know. She has a natural ability to read cats and volunteers with kitties in her own time, which tells you everything about where her heart is. Jane has spent time with my own cats. She is calm, attentive, and patient. I trust her completely with their care. If you're looking for someone who will treat your cat like family, Jane is that person. I recommend her completely.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

New York cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $31.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
