What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I’ve been a cat sitter for 5+ years, helping neighbors, friends, and strangers out with their cats, whether they’re away for a weekend or a few weeks.
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love getting to know each cat. No cat is the same and that is so special! I like gaining their trust and making them feel safe while their pet parent is away.
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
I was caring for two special sibling cats. They were so playful and energetic! I loved watching them play with each other and gradually open up to me. It was also so fun to see how different their personalities were from each other!
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I like to ask how you want me to keep in touch during your time away. Do you prefer a brief update every day with photos or only want me to reach out if there’s an issue? I don’t want you to feel inundated by updates if you don’t need them! I also want you to know that your cats are in safe hands.
What is your favorite cat toy?
Laser pointer! It’s so much fun to surprise the cats with and get them exploring. I also like a classic fishing line toy.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I like to give them space and let them come to me. It’s also totally okay if the cat would rather hide while I refill the food and water and clean the litter box. I am a no-pressure kind of sitter, especially if a kitty is anxious!

If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

New York cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $29.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
