What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I’ve watched many many cats. Friends cats, strangers cats. It’s never been a full time thing so it’s hard to pinpoint when it started but for many years now. I’ve been on Meowtel for about a month and it’s been great. Have met many great cats already. And I’ve had animals all my life (cats and dogs).

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I think cats are great. They’re innately cool. I like figuring out their individual personalities. I like the playful ones, the independent ones, the cuddly ones, the chatty ones. I like that they make you meet them where they are at.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

Doesn’t seem fair to play favorites. Each reservation is different just like each cat is. The clients I’ve booked on here all love their kitties so much. And I’m always so impressed how they each have their systems down pat

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I don’t currently have cats of my own but I had two for many years. They were brothers, one grey, one orange. Their names were Spider and Terrance Stamp. In college my roommate and I shared a one eyed cat named Delancey, the street he was found on

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

Don’t be afraid to ask as many questions as you want, even if you think they’re small or obvious. Communication rules. If something is extra important for me to know, never hurts to reiterate it. I know leaving your cat(s) can be stressful and I want to do whatever I can to help relieve that anxiety

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

We tend to exchange numbers pretty quickly, since texting is usually easier once I’m actually doing the sitting. Usually they want to do a meet and greet of some kind, in person or by FaceTime. They go over the schedule, show me where the food and litter box is. Tell me about any medicine that might need to be given and about their cat’s temperament. And how to get the keys. I ask if their cat would like me to hang out with them for a bit. And what time is best to arrive. Often they have the instructions already written out but if not, they’ll write it in a message so that I have everything I need to know. And then we text with any follow up questions or tasks that might later arise

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I make sure nothing is out that the cat could chew on or swallow. I take photos of the cat once I get there and also of the cat inside once I’m leaving. And photos of any doors I’ve gone through, to show that they’re closed and locked

Are you usually available during holidays?

Usually yes. My family is from California so I don’t leave to see them during the holidays. And when I travel, it tends to me during off holiday times

What is your favorite cat toy?

The cat dancer! It’s a classic. Or the laser pointer. Or a nice little catnipped filled mouse. Whatever your cat likes, I’m happy to entertain them with

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I give them their space, allow them to come to me in their own time. Or if they don’t want to, that’s okay too. It’s all about adjusting to their wavelength

Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
