I've been cat sitting professionally for three years and have had the pleasure of living with and helping care for 7 cats over the past decade. I begin every visit with your kitty with social time. I'll learn from you and your cat how they like to say hello and interact and we'll take it from there! For more social cats, we'll have a scratch behind the ears and pets. For shyer cats, I'll let them come to me if they're comfortable doing so. Next, I'll go through the checklist of cat-care we discuss together, putting out food, refreshing water, and emptying litter boxes. And I always end a visit with play time! Let me know their favorite toys and activities and if they can have any treats. I’m more than happy to bring in mail, water plants, and generally adapt to you and your cat's needs!

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
Providing cat parents with peace of mind that their little one is well cared for and safe while they are out of town. I know from experience how nerve wracking it can be to leave a precious pet and it’s such a pleasure to alleviate that concern! The special bond that develops with each new cat as I build trust with them - it’s hard to beat the satisfaction of getting a slow blink from a previously wary cat! And capturing a great photo of your cat to send in my update!
What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?
I offer free meet and greets (either in person or via a video call) to make sure I’m a great fit for you and your cat. During the meet and greet, I’ll connect with your kitty, we’ll discuss a check-list of your cat’s wants and needs for each visit, I’ll take notes, and I’ll answer any questions you have.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I have a special affinity for shy cats. I let each kitty set the pace for our interaction, paying special attention to their approach and body language (ear and tail position) to gauge how much they want to connect and adjust pets and personal space accordingly. I always speak in a soft, comforting voice, say their name, and give slow blinks to establish safety. I then use the routine of the visit to build trust – providing food, treats, a clean litter box, and playtime (often, timid cats enjoy watching a toy move around, even if they don't want to engage). I avoid loud noises, sudden movements, or encroaching on their space. It may take a few visits, but even the most anxious cats tend to warm up to me!

My crew are on the shy end of the spectrum and so Alexandra being able to get them to play and get some energy out while I was gone was a huge help, on top of all the rest. Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Los Angeles cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $34.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

Alex took great care of my cat Josie during a week when I was gone. In addition to keeping Josie's food & water bowls full and litter box clean, she actually got Josie to play with some toys! Josie is a chubby & pretty lazy cat, and Alex showed a lot of patience and diligence enticing Josie with her wand toy until Josie played and had a little workout.
