My approach to meeting new cats always consists of getting one their level and reaching out my hand for a sniff... Hi! My name is Emily and I’m a recent college graduate and employee in the National Press Building. I grew up around cats my entire childhood. My family fostered constantly plus had one of our own, and I’ve always loved them. In high school, I was the catsitter of the town, so I have many references and valuable experience with cats of many kinds! I love taking care of these special beings and giving them the love, play, admiration, and treats they deserve, and I truly believe there is no animal more special.
My approach to meeting new cats always consists of getting one their level and reaching out my hand for a sniff. Once they feel comfortable, a scratch on the chin or cheek seems to do the trick to get us acquainted. From there, we quickly become best friends!
As mentioned above, I have ample experience with cats and houses, and I really yearn to take care of some kitties nearby - I've been missing interacting with furry friends while I don't have one of my own. I know that I can meet and exceed all the sitter expectations laid out. My schedule is pretty open, especially on weekends and for overnight stays. I am available to service the greater Washington DC area and surrounding towns. What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I love meeting new kitties. I have been called an animal-whisperer before, and it seems that most animals like me and open up to me upon first meeting. I love seeing my cat-whispering skills in action when I am cat sitting - I most enjoy just hanging out, playing, and giving love to cats!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Don't hesitate to send a message with questions before booking anyone! Whether it's questions about the cat sitter themselves, their cat-sitting style, or even asking for references, it's always valuable to reach out and ensure that you are comfortable with the person coming to take care of your cat/s.
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
I always make it known to them that I am there by seeking them out - even if they're hiding under a bed, I'll go say hi just so they know that I'm in the house, but I won't bother them or make them come out from their hiding place. I might play with a toy near them or stretch my hand to be smelled, but I am never forceful - I know and respect that cats need their own space!

Emily did a fantastic job caring for my two kitties while my husband and I escaped for some much needed vacation time last week. I am always a little nervous about leaving the fur babies but after meeting Emily, I knew they would be in excellent hands. And they were ! She takes her job seriously, is a true animal lover and has great attention to detail. She kept in contact with me at each visit, sent pictures and updated info. I could relax and they were happy, contented kitties when we returned. We look forward to having her care for them on our next trip. Great job, Emily !

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Washington cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $25.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.

We recommend booking daily visits to keep your cats in their routine and help minimize feline anxiety while you're away.
