My name is Laura, and I've been a cat lover my whole life. I grew up with two cats at home, and currently have two cats: Daisy and Fitz, a bonded pair.
I also adopted an adult cat, Orange Cat, when I was 23 and she was 6. We were the bonded pair until the end of her life at age 15. 💖
I love cats of every shape, size, and age, but since OC was an older cat, I have a special place in my heart for elderly kitties. If you are looking for senior cat care, we would probably be a great fit! I know from experience how stressful looking for care can be as your pet ages.

For my day job, I am a teacher in the suburbs. I have a Masters in Education from Northwestern and teach English/Language Arts to high schoolers. During my free time and especially on school breaks, I can think of nothing I'd rather do than take care of your cats!
I live in Skokie and work in Evanston, so I primarily serve the North Side of Chicago and the near northern suburbs. I am very flexible during June and July, so don't hesitate to reach out with last minute requests!
As a cat mom myself, I know how stressful it can be to leave your beloved pets at home. I came to Meowtel as a customer first, and decided to sign up as a sitter because I had such a good experience! I can promise as many check-ins as you need, lots of pictures, and a willingness to give your cat(s) the same level of devotion and care I show my own.

What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?
I started with Meowtel in the Spring of 2022! However, I have been a cat mom for over 10 years, and have watched the cats, dogs, and babies of my friends on and off for just as long. I take the responsibility very seriously!
What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?
I just love all cats! Cats who want to play for the whole visit? Bring it on! Cats who are shy and just want to look at me from afar? I want to look at you too! Spending time with animals brings me genuine joy.
Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?
Last summer, I watched a beautiful all-white kitty named Drillbit. Drillbit is very shy, and I considered myself lucky if I caught a glimpse of him for the first few days. But later in the visit, he came out and gave me a head boop on my hand! I was walking on air for the whole rest of the day. It took time to gain his trust, but it was so worth it.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?
Don't be afraid to ask a ton of questions! We want to make sure you are totally comfortable with us being in your space and watching your beloved pet while you are away. So don't worry about taking the time to make sure we're a good fit!
How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?
Everything has to be on the cat's terms. I will never rush a cat to pet them. If a kitty is shy and needs time to get used to me, that is a-okay! I will often move slower and sit on the floor to show them I'm not going to hurt them. I am also not above bribery with treats (with the parent's permission of course!) But end of the day, I am there to take care of a cat, and if a cat doesn't want to be pet, no hard feelings! I'll do whatever I can to make them feel comfortable.

Laura was absolutely amazing! We both felt extremely comfortable having Laura pet-sit for us! During the meet & greet, we were able to go over everything that the cats might need + we never felt rushed or anything like that. While we were away, Laura set us so many photos and videos of our silly cats, and we felt secure and happy that they were being looked after like they were Laura's own. We always got an update about what both kitties were doing, as well as what was done during the visit. We are so so happy and thankful to Laura for providing us with an amazing experience. When we came back from traveling, it was clear that the kitties were happy to see us, but they were definitely missing Laura too! I would highly recommend Laura to anyone, and we'd love to have Laura pet-sit for us again.

Holiday Surcharge
Due to high demand during holidays, sitters on Meowtel have the option to set their own holiday price increase, which can be found in the rates section of their profiles. If your reservation falls within three (3) days before and/or after a federal holiday, or on the holiday itself, a holiday surcharge, determined by your sitter, will be added to your reservation.
These are the date ranges in 2026 to which the holiday surcharge applies:

- January 16-22: MLK Day
- February 13-19: Presidents Day
- May 22-28: Memorial Day
- June 16-22: Juneteenth

Frequently Asked Questions
Reservations officially begin at 12:00 AM in the sitter's time zone on the start date. Cat Parents may cancel within 24 hours of booking and receive a full refund, as long as the reservation has not yet started. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:
- More than 48 hours before the reservation start date: Full refund. The sitter will not receive any earnings.
- 24–48 hours before the reservation start date: 50% refund. The sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings.
- Within 24 hours of the reservation start date (or after it has begun): No refund. The sitter will earn 100% of their planned earnings.
All refunds are initially applied to the Cat Parent's Meowtel Account Balance for use toward a future reservation or tip. Funds may be returned to the original payment method at any time.
Meowtel is a marketplace that connects cat parents with independent sitters. For eligible reservations booked and paid for through Meowtel, the Meowtel Promise explains how we support cat parents if something unexpected comes up.

Skokie cat sitting rates will vary based on the sitter's experience and services, but the average price is $30.00. Prices depend on visit duration (20, 45, or 60 minutes) and whether you need drop-in visits or overnight stays.
Every cat sitter on Meowtel completes a background check. Ask your sitter about a free Meet & Greet so you (and your kitties!) can feel comfortable with your sitter before you leave.
