How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

Aside from the obvious: food, water, litter box, there are a few things that I like to do while I’m cat sitting to ensure their safety and security. The first is that I check to make sure they haven’t gotten into anything messy or knocked anything over. I also check any doors that you specify should stay left opened or closed - I’d hate for them to lock themselves out of a room that has their favorite sleep spot! Finally, I will make sure to leave a small light on for them, that way they’re not roaming around in the dark after the sun goes down!

What is your favorite cat toy?

My favorite cat toys are the strings on a stick. It’s so much fun to watch the cat hunt, and you know they’re into it if you can get them to do a little jump!

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I totally get it… I also wouldn’t let a stranger pet me right away! With the timid cats, I let them set the pace. I sit as close as they’ll let me get, and I’ll put my hand out, maybe offer a treat or two, until they start to relax a bit. I’ll tell them what a good kitty they are, until hopefully they’re comfortable enough for me to scoot closer and give a little pet. Not all cats will allow that, and that’s totally fine! I understand that it takes a long time to build trust with most cats.

Sam was amazing! I booked a little last minute, but she was able to accommodate me and was able to meet before the reservation to meet the cats, talk about care instructions, and pick up the keys. She was very responsive and my cats really seemed to like her!

Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.

We are proud to provide each of our independently-contracted Meowtel cat sitters with the full benefits of our Meowtel Promise on eligible reservations. For reservations where each visit is at or above $20 and paid for through Meowtel, your cat(s) will automatically be covered under our insurance policy in the event that things don't go as planned.

If you are not fully satisfied with your sitter after the Meet & Greet or during the reservation, please call 1-844-636-9835 so we can help you re-book with a new sitter to ensure we can deliver on our purrfect hospitality promise.
