What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

I enjoy spending time with new kitties and sometimes just sitting beside them, and reading and talking to them. I also enjoy getting to know fellow cat-owners. I’ve made a couple of good friends this way! I also love giving people the peace of mind they need, while traveling or away, to know that their kitty is being loved and cared for by a trustworthy cat-person. I know how much that matters, so it’s a joy to give that peace of mind to other cat-lovers.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

It’s tough to pick a favorite! I loved caring for Pat and Sal, two cats in Los Feliz. More recently, I Ioved caring for Beanie and Marvin - such sweet kitties with very different personalities :)

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

I have a cat named Yoshi. She is a black kitty and about 5 years and 6 months old. She’s much more social than most cats, at least for now! She is affectionate, feisty, and has an unusually loud purr! She’s also unafraid to tell me when she wants/needs something, often by putting her paw directly on my face or arm and staring at me! She wakes me up by sitting on my neck and purring. One of her favorite things is to run up and down the hallway while meowing. I love all her quirks!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

I would advise having a meet and greet so that you can see how the potential sitter interacts with your cat. Between you and your cat, you’ll be able to tell whether the potential sitter is a real cat person!

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

I like to meet either by Zoom or in person if possible. I want to give the cat parent a chance to ask me all the questions they want. I also want to know about their kitty’s special needs and anything related to meds, allergies, and so on. I want to make sure also that I know the number of the vet’s office and the preferred process if the kitty isn’t eating or acting normally. And of course I would want to know about feeding schedules, favorite toys, and anything else that I should know to make sure that the cat feels loved and safe and well-cared for. Finally, I would be happy to allow the parent observe me interacting with their kitty if that helps, or interacting with my own cat, if that helps as well!

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I prefer not to let kitties outside, even if the owner says it’s okay. I would allow it if under very controlled circumstances, but otherwise I’d want to keep the kitty nearby, inside and safe. I generally like hanging out and watching what cats get into; this can be very entertaining, but it also helps me monitor their safety!

Are you usually available during holidays?

I am usually available during holidays. I don’t travel much during the holidays because most of my family lives in the area.

What is your favorite cat toy?

My favorite is whatever toy that particular cat loves. Different kitties go nuts over different toys, so I like to ask the cat parent which toy is their favorite.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I approach timid/anxious kitties very quietly and slowly. I respect their shyness and let them warm up to me. I try to talk gently, in a soothing voice, and I don’t make any sudden movements. I think I can relate to shy cats, so I’ve never met one who didn’t warm up to me eventually.

Elizabeth has taken care of my kitties Joey and Dee Dee anytime I’m away from home. They are always healthy and happy when she stays with them. Dee Dee needs some special care. He needs medication twice a day and different food from Joey. She does a fabulous job keeping their food separate. I sometimes think they love her more than me. I can always count on Elizabeth to love and care for my sweet kitties.

Cancellation Policy

Cat parents may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a full refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Cat parents will receive a full refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Cat parents will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the cat parent cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.
