What is your experience with cat sitting, and how long have you been doing it?

I have been catsitting through Meowtel since March of 2023 since retiring. I have owned kitties most of my life.

What do you enjoy most about cat sitting?

Meeting new kitties is always fun for me. Each has their own unique personality, and I enjoy getting to know each one individually.

Can you tell us about your favorite cat sitting reservation?

I sat for a kitty with cerebellar hypoplasia. He is the most wonderful kitty, who I fell in love with. He was my first "wobbly" cat I have met and cared for. His "can-do" spirit was truly inspirational! His resilience and strength of character truly inspire me. I was instantly smitten!

Do you have kitties yourself? What are their names?

Yes, 2 black kitties - Macy and Mochi (girl and boy) about 1.5 years old (as of May 2024). I am glad to have them after I learned that black cats are some of the last to be adopted cuz some people are superstitious. To those who are scared of adopting black cats, I say, "Don't Be!" They each have very unique, funny, and loving personalities. Now past kittenhood, they are both coming into their own. I am discovering more about them each and every day...and loving every minute of it! There's never been a dull moment! 🥰

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a cat sitter?

At the Meet and Greet, use your intuition when watching how your kitty(ies) interact (or don't) with the catsitter. Cats are VERY intuitive themselves. They "know" cat people when they see (and sniff) them! Give catsitter enough time to get to know (and play with) your kitties! I can get them fed, clean litter box, take and text pics in 20 minutes, but that doesn't leave us much play time!

What is your typical process for working with a new cat parent?

Whether new or not new, I want to know what their daily routine is. Kitties like familiar routines and changes can be disruptive. Your absence is a big enough change for your kitty (ies). If I can help bring some normalcy through playtime, trust time, etc., all the better.

How do you ensure the safety & security of the cats and the home while cat sitting?

I check to see where they are. Sometimes they meet me at the door while other times they go into hiding. Most of the time I can put my eyeballs on them to assure owners, and I take pics whenever I can. I also do NOT let kitties go outside, even if they are allowed outdoors. The main reason is it voids my insurance through Meowtel. But it also helps to keep your kitties safe!

Are you usually available during holidays?

Usually, but during the winter months, I may not open my availability to avoid inclimate weather conditions. I don't like to drive in the snow and ice because I live on top of a hill!

What is your favorite cat toy?

Rods with furry or feathery toys at the end. I find most kitties love these toys. I also like blowing bubbles for them! And, treats are also fun time as it helps with bonding.

How do you handle cats that are particularly timid or anxious?

I initially give them lots of space. I like to talk with them a lot, and use their name a lot. Over time they usually chill out, but sometimes it may take more than one catsit, depending on the length of the initial catsit.

Carole went above and beyond to take care of our kitty! In addition to taking excellent care of her, Carole even brought some of her own wet food in when we ran out. She also tried to get to know our kitty's preferences, such as *how* she likes to get brushed. My wife and I miss our kitty terribly when we travel, so we were comforted and deeply appreciative for Carole to take such good care of our Marmalade. And our toddler LOVED the pictures Carole took of her.

Cancellation Policy

Customers may cancel within 24 hours of making their reservation and receive a 100% refund, and the sitter will not receive any earnings. After the first 24 hours, the following cancellation rules apply:

Customers will receive a 100% refund to their Account Balance if they cancel anytime up to 48 hours before the start date of the reservation, and the sitter will not receive any earnings.

Customers will receive a 50% refund, and the sitter will earn 50% of their planned earnings if the customer cancels between 24-48 hours of the start of the reservation.

No refund will be issued within 24 hours of the reservation, and the sitter will keep 100% of their planned earnings.

The Meowtel Promise & Satisfaction Guarantee

We are proud to provide each of our independently-contracted Meowtel cat sitters with the full benefits of our Meowtel Promise on eligible reservations. For reservations where each visit is at or above $20 and paid for through Meowtel, your cat(s) will automatically be covered under our insurance policy in the event that things don't go as planned.

If you are not fully satisfied with your sitter after the Meet & Greet or during the reservation, please call 1-844-636-9835 so we can help you re-book with a new sitter to ensure we can deliver on our purrfect hospitality promise.
